'Scuse you, sir, but when I joined, it was too late to be eligible for the old GI bill, and too early for the Montgomery GI bill. There was an educational assistance program called "VEAP" that was roundly criticized for its ineffectiveness - it worked in the same way that "health savings accounts" are supposed to work - spend a dollar, the government puts in two dollars. I'd hardly call that "free", especially when one is a low-ranking enlisted sending home a significant portion of the paycheck to his mother to help help her. In other words, you made an ASSUMPTION based on nothing more than what you personally wanted to believe about liberals. And your assumption turned out to be false.
FYI, if you'll look at my writings, I point out MANY times how I was a strong conservative until the early 1990's, and how I happily voted for both Reagan and Bush 41, and that I still hold Bush 41 to be a very good, very underrated president.
Next time, try asking first. Try gathering all the FACTS first before you make an assumption or an accusation. But you have to be careful, because that's what got me to become a strong liberal instead of remaining a strong conservative.
If you'll check, most of the fighting is being done by Iraqi forces - we're helping, of course (with forces trained and paid for during the Obama administration), but the lion's share of the fighting is being done by the Iraqis. And if you'll do a little research, you'll find that
it was Obama who got most of the rest of the Middle Eastern nations to band together to fight ISIS. Trump got lucky in that when he took over, the end of the war against ISIS was no longer in any serious doubt.
Next time, guy, do yourself a favor and learn how to determine facts before you start pumping out conspiracy-theory assumptions.
