Does anyone actually believe Trump's "correction" of when he says misspoke?

Did Trump remove any sanctions, is he trying to cut into their natural gas sales with Europe, didn’t Trump bomb some of Russians fighters

Wow!

Trump has said all those things regularly.
The right wing partisan media (Hannity, Tucker, Dobbs, etc.) have all said those same things or agreed with POTUS,.
Most of the usual suspect Trump supporters on this forum have said those things, in agreement with Trump. Possibly you if we look through your post history.

He did not say one stupid thing, he said about a dozen.

Given all that, you believe it was just a gaffe. That's why Trump supporters are evidencing themselves to be morally bankrupt IMO.

anyone that supported clinton has 0 room to call anyone morally bankrupt.
your hand waving and demonetization of people means nothing.

all politicians say dozens of stupid things. I bet you don't call any of those whack job liberals out for saying stupid crap every day.
nope. so your outrage is dismissed for what it is empty.

I am a bit confused. Do people really expect a president to call out another world leader in a press conference standing right next to them?

If Trump did that it could have escalated a war. Were people expecting a fight or a debate?

Shoe throwing.

Trump asked at the end of the Wednesday press splash/cabinet meeting if Russia is still meddling in US elections. Trump answer: NO

So now he is walking back the walk back which is not unexpected. But he has left an even bigger mess in his wake than he had on Monday night.

There is almost a last ditch effort in the Congress and with the support of US Intel to try to prepare for the mid-terms and right into the middle of that, Trump lobs another hand grenade. Another disgusting display by Trump.

Trump's advisers had a detailed plan for what he should say. He ignored them.

And no, war wouldn't break out if Trump told the truth that Russians were involved. That's the attitude of a coward living in fear.

I keep coming back to the same thing because Trump exhibits this overarching flaw in his Presidency in one way or another every single day, every breath he takes. The dif in Helsinki and in the week ahead of Helsinki and in Singapore is that this flaw has become a National Security issue and an issue of maintaining peace and order in the world.

The flaw is pretty easy to see. Trump simply either ignores or does not know about or does not care that the office of Chief Executive requires the ability to separate the occupant's Political self and Financial self from his responsibilities as Chief Executive. Trump can say whatever he wants to say in his whacko rallies. Who cares. I certainly don't care. If certain people get a hard on over Trump in rally mode, more power to them I guess. But really, Trump rally mode is not more substantive than pornography.

However, every single day, Trump rejects his responsibilities as Chief Executive and baths in the role of political personality and financial entity regardless of how much wreckage he causes. When he is not rejecting his responsibilities as Chief Executive, he is feathering his political nest or spending hours in front of the TV (do we really think that is what a President should be doing) or taking direct input from his favorite TV personalities, playing golf, visiting his properties charging US taxpayers each time, tweeting, making a fool of himself and if there is any time left over, he will appoint a Judge or two and his fans appear to think that gets it done.

He rejects his role as Chief Executive with such vigor that he trips over himself on the world stage and is left in the laughable position of having to explain the unexplainable, to turn back a clock that simply can't be turned back, to unsay what can't be unheard and to undo what can't be undone. Its the last one that is going to get all of us at some point. He is clearly so inept, so unfit that as bad as everything else he does from the office of the Chief Executive is, it simply points to the day when he is left trying to undo what can't be undone leaving us with a mess that will take decades to repair. Heck we are already likely into decades of repair on some of this Trump garbage.
Four paragraphs to which my only reply is Bravo with one caveat. I do think that rhetoric by an acting president at even at a political rally can be so toxic, so divisive and irresponsible as to warrant a lot more concern than you express. Presidents cannot afford the luxury of rhetorical nihilism , feeding our nastiest stereotypes or impulses, let alone undermining our basic institutions.

Does anyone actually believe that Trump misspoke at the news conference?

In all honesty I think he probably didn't misspeak, but as the Trump-hating left and MSM generally do, and this time even some on the right did, they misinterpreted what he meant.

What I think he meant when he says "I don't know why they would" (meddle in our election) was in the vein of what could they hope to gain from it? It was a "why would they do that?" kind of thing.

Or he could have misspoken.

Or he could have meant it the way it was interpreted, i.e. that he didn't believe the Russians had meddled which is really foolish to interpret that way given all the MANY times he has said the exact opposite.

Whatever the truth actually is--and there is not one of us who knows that for certain--he has been battered on the point to ridiculous lengths considering that others who have said far worse were skimmed over and/or were quickly forgiven.

No because only Democrats can misspeak.

Republicans only lie, right?

Most Presidents made big bloopers, but only Trump is being attacked by what seems a rabid lynch mob. We have come a long way.

Because we are incapable of watching the substance of his remarks throughout the 45 minute conference or remembering his statements over the last 2 years.

Worse than Trump's walk back of the walk back throwing another hand grenade into Congressional and US Intel efforts to try to shore up the Mid-terms are Trump's comments on Montenegro.

Russia wants Montenegro. That much should be clear. It falls in line with one of the check boxes on Putin's list...access to warm water ports.

Trump's comments suggest he has no idea about NATO obligations or as usual, he just does not care. He has been suggesting that the people of Montenegro are tough and aggressive and might start a fight. NATO does not oblige members to support an attack by a member nation. NATO only obliges members to help defend a member nation if they are attacked.

Getting to the point where not just every day but every hour of every day there is some trumpian nonsense about because every time Trump opens his mouth all that comes out is garbage.

Trump "misspoke" again today, chatting with foaming toady Tucker Carlson, he again repeated his lie that Germany's crime rate is "through the roof" due to immigration, when it's at record lows. There's truth and there's Trump.

That's what you're going with? But Hillary!
And followed up with saying Trump just said "stupid things"? Now you want to normalize the fact that everything POTUS says is stupid? I mean...why be upset when we have a president whose every word is stupid? You really asking that?

In any case, even the notion that what Trump said was simply "stupid", misses the entire point. Trump and his campaign are under criminal investigation for possible conspiracy with the Russians who meddled in our election, to elect Trump. He sided with Putin at every opportunity in Helsinki. His apology STILL said he doesn't believe Russia meddled...he still says "it could be other people". Some people figured he was behaving that way for kicks. Some lied and said it was to further some legitimate agenda.

Trump exposed himself, on the world stage, standing next to Putin. He didn't do it with one lie of a double negative....no one believes that anyway. He was told by his own advisors to come out hard on Putin. Instead, he bent over.

Why did he do it? There are only a few even plausible reasons why he is behaving this way, and I think you know it too.,

He hates the idea of America being committed to come to the aid of an ally, especially it seems if the ally needs aid against Russia.

Oh, look.

A President who supposedly believes that the U.S. was attacked by Russia during the previous presidential election contradicts his own intelligence officials once again by saying that the Russian government is not engaging in similar behavior for this election season.

Now, why would we be skeptical about Trump’s “correction” to the transcript? Hmmm....

Sara Sanders left with another effort to "interpret" what the President said just today in responding NO to the question today about whether Russia is still trying to attack our elections. Nobody asked Trump if he would take questions. So NO Sara that was not the question Trump was responding to. Trump looked right at the reporting asking about continuing Russian Election Interference and responded NO in the middle of his usual "thank yous" as reporters are being ushered out.

Sanders on to this grand story and I do mean story about how much effort the Trump administration has put into Election Integrity. That is utter drivel. We should remember that the very first effort this administration made toward Election Integrity was an utter and complete sham with states simply refusing to participate in such a sham. That went on for months until the Trump administration finally abandoned that bit of nonsense. Then we had Congress allocating funds. We had the State Dept which has some to-dos in this regard just letting the money sit there.

Nothing and I do mean nothing of any consequence was happening to support the states till after the primaries had already started......a little late. In fact that is a lot late.

Perhaps that is why there are 44 incumbent GOP house members not seeking reelection this year. That enhances greatly the Democrats chances of taking back the house. All told, the republicans have 54 at risk seats vs. only 6 for the Democrats. A better way to look at it is the Republicans have 186 safe seats vs. 189 solid Democratic seats. The rest are up for grabs, they could go either way.

I always value your numbers and analysis regarding the Congressional elections. Thank you for it.

I think what we have discovered over time is that not only is Trump not a great dealmaker but that whatever is buzzing around in his head comes out his mouth. So Trump answered NO to that question about Russia still interfering in US Elections because that is what is buzzing around in his head. Its not more complicated than that.

Look to get Trump to comply with the US Intel Community position, you have to put a piece of paper in his hands that has the entire dialog written out and when he has that he looks a hostage reading a message from the hostage takers.

OMG!Can any one think at this late date,Trump is pure as drifting snow!
The snows yellow dude!
And the lefts underwear is brown from capping themselves. Now how about answering the question. You all seem to be convinced trump is guilty of something that has yet to be proven.
