In this day and age, the next astronaut to the moon should be gender neutral! :lamo

The SJW's and politically correct have just gone way too far. I was watching the news one night (Lester Holt) and he was talking about our military (I think it was around Memorial Day). Anyway, he said something like thanking our brave Men and Women who have served and I immediately thought the nutjobs are going to come out and attack him because transgenders have served as well. The gall of him not to include everyone who had served.

Space programs have fueled all kinds of other products, making human's lives easier. It is not a waste of money.

Putting 'the first woman on the moon' is a ridiculous total waste of taxpayer money.

If that is the sole purpose then I agree. But, that is not the sole purpose. We need to establish a permanent colony on the moon so that we can eventually do it on Mars. And, before you say how stupid that is, don't forget that's what they told Columbus, et al.

I'll be more specific as to whether or not a female astronaut should be allowed to have a moon landing. What's the purpose other than to make a woman the first one to walk on the moon and she can get on a box of Wheaties, woo-hoo for her. That's just frivolity with our taxpayer money. Whether a female astronaut lands on the moon or not, it makes no difference whatsoever to colonization, if that ever happens.

It is nice to dream about human travel to Mars, but let us start with conquering the next rock in our heavens permanently by having a permanently staffed moon base so that we can learn lessons about living on other planets.

I totally do. It’s really kind of amazing we haven’t landed on the moon in so long and, let’s face it, that has fueled some of the conspiracy theories about moon landings being hoaxes. We have much better technology now to document a moon landing and why not secure another spot in history for being the first and maybe only nation to put a women on the moon?

Attaching poll.

I selected NO! Only because I hate the idea of dividing people into classes and using that as a selection basis. Treat all people on an equal basis, and no favoritism.

I mean...I don't support it as a one-off publicity stunt thing, but I'd definitely support it as part of the whole "build a base on the moon to facilitate further manned exploration of the solar system" thing.

Why are you such a misogynist?

Why are you such a misogynist?

It would be extremely unusual for a woman to be a misogynist. There is simply no need, whatsoever, to spend billions of dollars of US taxpayer money just to say a US woman stepped on the moon. It's just damned wasteful not to mention plain stupidity.

I don't support it. It's a contrivance based on sexual parts. The fact that it's considered "special" is an insult to the capability we believe women have. It reinforces the concept that white men can do anything and everything. Other races and sexes, not so much.

No. Sending someone to the moon to be the first whatever there is an idiotic goal and huge ****ing waste of money. If we are going to send people to the moon it should be for something useful. Not some idiotic pc social justice nonsense. If we do decide to waste billions or even trillions of dollars sending people to the moon it shouldn't matter if those astronauts are male, female, black, white or whatever.

No telescope has a focal length that permits seeing anything left on the moon with a telescope from Earth. Perhaps you can from your planet

I admit it, I laughed.

I had no idea I was so PC.

If a political candidate said she should be president because she is a woman wouldn't you say that is a idiotic pc reason to be president?

LOL. The left claim that women are fighting a war against women when it comes to abortion and many other things. So, no reason why you can't be labeled a misogynist. Trump is a better person than you are. He's fine with a woman going to the moon.

In and of itself, no. I have no issues with women in NASA or going to the moon. I just don't see it as a necessity that there be a woman.

If that was the sole reason or given as reason to overlook some shady stuff, definitely, but if a lady can do the job at hand as I believe some can, why not? If a woman gets to walk on the moon, it should be the US that gets her there. Besides, dudes had all the opportunity back in the day.

I have no problem with women astronauts ... I encourage it. But that shouldn't be the only moon-return goal in and of itself.

More trips to the moon should probably be contingent on using it as a supply stepping-stone to Mars.

That's an excellent reason to deny a woman.

Well said.

Putting a woman on the moon for the sake of putting a woman a woman on the woman is a idiotic idea.Who the hell cares other than social justice tards and people trying waste more tax dollars on NASA what country puts a woman on the moon first? After the first woman is put on the moon do we waste more money putting the first black man, native American, Indian(India) American, Chinese American, gay American, tranny American, Jewish American, Muslim American, and what ever else on the moon? What about the first American with down syndrome on the moon or the first obese American on the moon? If someone is qualified for the position then their sex, race or what ever shouldn't matter period.

China is probably the more likely candidate, but yeah, why bother going back? Unless there's a permanent base going there just to say 'We did it,' is so sixties...

We shouldn't be spending one cent on adventures until we're emission-free.

To what end? To update the flag? 1 moon trip = billions of dollars. That's with a B.

For that kinda cash, I want there to more purpose than to just prove we could.

I'm completely with you. What the **** is the point? A complete waste of time and money. Build a couple of Nuclear power plants instead.

What would be the purpose besides a "gender first"?

If there is a legitimate scientific purpose, I am all for it.....but if its to make a diversity statement, I am sure there are other less costly ways to make such a statement.

I agree.

I think the most qualified person should go to do what needs to be done. It is sad that everything has to come down to prejudice.

I support a level of investment in technology that could put me on the moon; of which would certainly mean putting the first woman astronaut on the moon first.
