Democrats in tough races throw their party under the bus

Democrats in tough Senate races around the country are throwing their party under the bus as the seek to pull out victories in red states won just two years ago by President Trump.

$

In Missouri, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D) has a radio ad declaring she's "not one of those crazy Democrats." She's in a razor-tight race against Josh Hawley, the state's attorney general.

In Montana, Sen. Jon Tester (D), whose race against Republican Matt Rosendale has tightened considerably, told The Hill that Democrats "botched" the debate over Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. He also criticized Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren's (D) use of DNA results to claim Native American heritage, saying it doesn't "pass the test."

In Tennessee and Arizona, former Gov. Phil Bredesen (D) and Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D) are telling voters that they will not back Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) for Senate Democratic Leader. Trump won both of those states in 2016, too.

You mean they're trying to win an election? Oh the horror!

You mean they're trying to win an election? Oh the horror!

It means they realize their own party is a joke and need to put some space between themselves and the miscreants that occupy the Democrat party.

I think it's priceless! :lamo

Damn...reading through that article...that's gotta sting!

I'm not sure if the constituents in Missouri are going to buy into Claire's sudden change of heart when her voting record shows otherwise. Tuesday is going to be one interesting showdown across the country.
I did early voting last week and will on a trip to Denver on Tuesday so will tune in that evening to see how it all shakes out. I really have no idea which party will dominate the election, but I get the sense the Blue Wave may not be what the Democrats hoped for.

“Vote early, vote often” amirite?

Goes to show just how divided and crazy the Democratic Party has become.

These candidates are correct. It almost seems like the Dems are intent on losing the midterms. Kavanaugh, Injun' Liz, the caravan. And now Hillary and Waters running their mouths. All losers. You don't bring up your losers just before an election.

Two months ago I thought the Dems had a shot at regaining Congress. Now I'm not so sure.

It shows how far left the party of corruption has moved. Real Dems should either kick the weirdo kooks out, or form another party.

Me either. I'm not sure what they are doing but it really is hurting their efforts. All in all, I prefer some balance in our government (a little left and a little right) as it's healthy. I hate to see it sway only one direction yet the Democrats are creating that scenario. I also think they have underestimated how much their crazy Brownshirt like antics of harassing and attacking people since the election in 2016 have hurt them.

Donnelly isn't the best, that's for sure. However, he's better than a Trump cultist.

Since before the '16 election. Democrats lost the most winnable election in decades, and learned nothing.

Tip ONeill once said “All politics is local”. The constituency calls the shots. A progressive running in a red state is not going to win unless they become or at least convince enough people they can represent the district or state as a centrist.

I'd like to add that Bredesen, who is running to replace POS Corker in TN, shot himself in the foot bigly.
He run on "I can work with Trump and support part of his agenda, but I wouldn't shy away from opposing him on things I don't agree with."
In other words, "I'm the one who can reach across the aisle."

During the Kavanaugh debacle, he stayed mum. After Kavanaugh was confirmed, he announced he would have voted for him.
The democrat voter response was immediate and intense ... support for him dropped bigly.

Reminds me of what Trump said last night about McCaskill ... something like "I didn't know she liked me (grin), but I can assure you she would never vote with Republicans."

Radical kook leftists are slow learners.

I agree with you.

I heard a recording once of john kennedy on the phone talking to some southern democrat.

Kennedy needed his vote on something, and the other guy said sure thing, but you know I have to distance myself and probably cuss you in speeches.
Kennedy said, fine, cuss me all you like as long as it gets you elected and we can get back to work.

Pretty much exactly what you said.

I'm not so sure. Trump had a freight train of a campaign and galvanized republican voters. I'm not sure any other candidate would have done any better against him.

They aren't throwing their Party under the bus. They are following the McCain Method for Reelection: Tell the voter whatever it takes to get elected...then do whatever your Party Elites tell you to do.

They pretty much lie to the voters by telling them one thing, usually of a moderate nature, when they are actually far left and will govern as such. Sinema, Gillum and McCaskill have already been exposed. They'll say anything to win.

Another example of how ridiculous our two party system is. You can’t win a major election without being a Republican or Democrat. And a mere two parties can NOT encompass the variety of political views that exist in this large country.

No, you don't understand. This proves that the Democratic party is folding and everybody will bow before Trump.

I'm not necessarily meaning Hillary fielded the worst campaign in history on her own. DNC certainly had a hand.

Regarding learning, a couple weeks ago on this forum I asked what the new platform was. The answer? Minimum wage raise. DACA and other pro illegal issues. All the talking points from the '16 campaign.

Liberals are still defending the deplorable comment. Without that comment she would be President Hillary.

Unfortunately, your definition of "far left" is the center.
