Some Republicans are pushing back, rather quietly and on the margins. Representative Don Bacon, a Republican, had a blunt message for President Trump when a White House aide called him personally early this month and asked that he abandon legislation to strip the names of Confederate leaders from military bases.
“You’re wrong — you need to change,” Mr. Bacon, a second-term Nebraskan and former Air Force brigadier general, told the official, he said in an interview. “We’re the party of Lincoln, the party of emancipation; we’re not the party of Jim Crow. We should be on the right side of this issue.”

But today in this country, if you're a racist then there is one party that will welcome you with open arms. And it's not the Democratic Party.

Yes, please stop. Please, please stop. I've already donated significant $$ toward efforts to get him to stop "helping." So far his "helping" has cost tens of thousands of lives. Covid is deadlier among minorities, did you know that?

His helping has put more conservatives on federal benches to make voting more difficult for, and this nation less welcoming to, minorities.

His helping has shifted trillions of dollars to the top 1 percent while he continues to work against the interests of everyone else by, as one example, relaxing environmental regulations across the nation. If anything, Democratic Party run inner cities have failed their constituents repeatedly for 5 decades.

The problem is systemic generational poverty, passed down over and over, gangs, drugs, crime, fatherless households, gov't dependence, welfare, food stamps, SNAP, crappy schools run by gangs and do-nothings.

Meanwhile in the rest of the country, blacks are fully integrated, educated, hold degrees, have held every post in gov't and private industry, are engineers, astronauts, CEO's, professors, Senators, Congressmen and women, POTUS, etc, etc.

Why are you OK with white people getting welfare, food stamps and complain all of the time about black people getting it. Do you realize that the majority of black people don’t get public assistance from the government. Do you realize that more white people get government assistance than black people. Most black people living in cities like Chicago and Baltimore are not on welfare and are not living in poverty. Crappy schools in the inner city is due to how schools are funded. Property taxes fund schools. Most cities put more money into their police and prison systems than into their school systems. This is why defunding the police is a big issue now. This is why cities are considering redirecting funds. Police are not solving crimes in cities like Chicago and Baltimore unless one of their own gets shot. Other than harassing, planting evidence, and committing crimes of their own, they should be finding and arresting the people who are doing all of the shootings. Also, the cites spend millions in law suits against them, when they have hurt or killed a citizen unlawfully.

The Republicans were the minority party and if you look at the records of the Congress, and they are there for all to study, you will learn that Democrats waged a hell of a war to stop civil rights. LBJ who I voted for sat on his ass in his high chair whimpering the democrats blocked it. So Everett Dirksen a Republican power went to work and persuaded Democrats to get off their lazy asses and pass a good law. And by golly Democrats still voted in huge numbers to block the law. But it passed.

LBJ had it handed to him on a silver platter.

Who has been best positioned, and of course, also control(led) the resources (= influence) to at the least, mitigate "black problems".
