Kavanaugh's high school drinking bears directly on Dr Ford's allegations. It's that simple. Not a fishing expedition at all. Her allegation is that she was sexually assaulted by a "drunken" Bret Kavanaugh and a "drunken" Mark Judge. You can dance around that all you want...but thats all your doing...dancing.

Reality is reality and what people see if often what they want to see. Psychiatry is a medical science and Psychiatric treatment is medical treatment.

I already know ignorance abounds in this country. I don't have to go farther than this forum to see that.

I think anyone who doesn't see the world through the eyes of what is good for Republicans can see that Kavanaugh was recklessly dishonest to the committee. If the FBI investigation shows dishonesty on Kavanaugh's part, not even up to the goal of lying about sexual assault, but, lying about any matter. Then these Senators will be forced to vote 'No' on Kavanaugh. And in doing so they will have prevented a conflicted liar with extreme biases from getting on the court.

And who out there can disagree? Should lying to the Senate Judiciary Committee become the new normal? Is lying to get your way, the American way now?

The question is did he do what was claimed by Dr. Ford....

I never argued it was not a medical science.

And yes, plenty of ignorance is displayed on this board. By both sides of the aisle.

Depends on how much he drinks, which does impact many areas of ones ability to perform their job.

Agree let's get to the bottom of the matter, I would suggest a polygraph for all three people that were supposed to be present, conducted by the FBI, see who is being deceptive.

Your arguing that its not a medical treatment because some number of nitwits opine that its not. If its a medical science, its clinical application, "treatment" is a medical treatment. Understanding this stuff ain't rocket science although it often resembles dentistry since it can be like pulling teeth!

I see the distinction between the two as wholly opposite. In medicine, two doctors looking at the same data would typically recommend the same treatment, whereas, two psychiatrists looking at the same data typically recommend different treatments. Likewise, in court, frequently, if not always, witnesses with equal educations and backgrounds will diametrically oppose each others opinions on any given matter, even though they both have the exact same data.

Let's call it science-light.. ;)

This judge is the only judge on record expressing extreme views that would literally expand the powers of the president which would have the absolute effect of elevating him to be above the law.

That fact, alone, EVERYONE who claims to be a patriot should oppose his appointment. Appointing Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court would be one more incremental step in the slow march towards fascism.

Therefore, in my view, Kavanaugh must be stopped by any and all justifiable means, fair, or unfair, and that is the patriotic thing do in the face of fabian fascism.

What doesn't make sense to me at all, given the libertarian leanings of today's right, how they can possibly favor Kavanaugh given his current views on presidential power. It makes no sense.

Hysterical. Trump really needs to shut up if he wants to help Kavanaugh. Clearly Trump "heard" through Kavanaugh's Senate Hearing nonsense and for once actually said something close to factual. Psychiatrists are medical doctors. You are probably mixing up psychiatrists with psychologists (the latter are not medical doctors). Psychiatrists employ physical treatments: medications (by the mouth, or IV, or IM, or transdermal), ECT, deep brain stimulation, light therapy (for seasonal affective disorder, for example), etc. And no, psychiatry is not science-light, but rather, part of the very advanced and very scientific field of neurosciences, and it deals with neurotransmitters (dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin, etc.), and brain chemistry.

By the way, two medical doctors looking at a variety of non-psychiatric organic diseases won't necessarily recommend the same treatment like you said. There are endless variations, equally acceptable. Otherwise we wouldn't need doctors; just, some sort of computer programed with symptoms would cough up the prescription.

Medicine is a LOT more complicated than your post assumes, which is why doctors need such long education to be able to work (at least 8 years of post-college education, in med school and residency training). And psychiatry, as a medical specialty, is part of the medical field.
