Coons and Flake: Kavanaugh nomination 'over' if proven he lied to committee

I don't know anything about this - I admit-, but I would like to know exactly what "endangering the livelihood of many native Alaskans" means.

Also, where is the link to "Kavanaugh wants to strip federally protected land in Alaska"?

Alaska's largest Native organization said Wednesday it "strongly" opposes the appointment of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, calling his views on Indian policy erroneous and a threat to unique policies and laws governing Alaska Native institutions.

The Alaska Federation of Natives announcement potentially adds pressure to Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, who has not said whether she supports the appointment and who in 2010 benefited from the group's endorsement in her uphill write-in victory against Joe Miller. Groups opposed to Kavanaugh's appointment have pressed Murkowski to vote against him.

Here you go:

If someone lies about little things that points to bigger lies about bigger things. Obvious lies about the meaning of words signal a reason for them to dig deeper.

Is this yet another thread about how Kavanaugh characterized his drinking habits? You guys just never give up do you. Shall we apply that same criterion to all witnesses? "Fear of Flying" Ford comes to mind immediately.

A) Ford did not testify about her so called fear of flying.

B) Ford is not in consideration for a Supreme Court seat.

Murkowski has no reason to vote for Kavanaugh. Her base is native Alaskans and Kavanaugh wants to strip federally protected land in Alaska endangering the livelihood of many native Alaskans.

Murkowski might bend to the pressure of McConnell who will block any and all legislation favorable to his "deserters" states. He's a mean old guy.

And Politifact lies most of the time. :lamo

ut

Where do you get your information?? Politifact is ranked highly factual, and least biased by Media Bias Fact Check. Now perhaps they report news that does not agree with you. That's different.

Game changer

Explains why this topic is being discussed by Coons and Flake.

It is not difficult to imagine that if Brett had had a beer at the hearing, he might have tossed it in a Senator's face. He was that crazed, and not even drunk!!

She was testifying under oath.

I think anyone who doesn't see the world through the eyes of what is good for Republicans can see that Kavanaugh was recklessly dishonest to the committee. If the FBI investigation shows dishonesty on Kavanaugh's part, not even up to the goal of lying about sexual assault, but, lying about any matter. Then these Senators will be forced to vote 'No' on Kavanaugh. And in doing so they will have prevented a conflicted liar with extreme biases from getting on the court.

And who out there can disagree? Should lying to the Senate Judiciary Committee become the new normal? Is lying to get your way, the American way now?

Well, duh...if he lied then that disqualifies him. I'm not sure how this is noteworthy. I'd think that pretty much anyone would agree to not supporting him if he lied.

If they existed at all.

You argument has a weak foundation. 1. Someone who is afraid of something can master their fears, internally or by way of medication. and 2. Kavanaugh lied during his testimony. What does your assertion change about that?

Kavanaugh lied about his drinking. He lied about his "baseball tickets" debt. He lied about receiving stolen emails. And, he very likely lied about sexually assaulting someone.

Of course. You guys simply don't give a rat's ass. Anything that keeps your fingers on the lever of power is FINE.

Republicans are disgusting monsters.

The United States Supreme Court should not be unbalance. I’m sorry but you waited for 35 years and now you want to be believe? If we don’t continue control the house or the senate. We are going to pick off RGB seat anyway.

You are damn right,

The democrats are used to protecting sexual predators anyway

Of course you can prove none of that but hey don't let it so you from pretending it's true.

Republicans did a disservice by bringing in this Mitchell character to cross-examine Dr. Ford.

What a total disaster. She was asking stupid questions to Dr. Ford. It made zero sense to have her ask questions to Kavanaugh..... What a joke.

You know at 1st I thought okay fine he's a judge already. We may not like him but we gotta suck it up Trump won the election...thats how I feel about most things going on now.
But then I started to look into tgis guy and saw it took 3 years to get his current judgeship. There were questions from his past hearings he lied about some pretty important stuff. Then the drunken frat boy stuff started coming out and I waited and waited for him to just say something simple I did things when I was a young man I'm not proud of and if I offended anyone I sincerely apologize.
Nope instead he started swinging. Disrespecting sitting senators asking him simple questions in a non confrontational way. I'm not talking about Booker or Harris but Klobichar, Leahy and Coons.
That was it for me.
I don't know every time I try to give Trump Republicans the benefit of the doubt I'm disappointed.

Through his lies and fabrications during repeated questioning both this week and in the past, Brett Kavanaugh has displayed all the integrity of a monitor lizard on angel dust. If he is seated in the SCOTUS, he must be immediately impeached.

I saw something - maybe on Politifact or something - said that the average politician lies about 30% of the time, and Trump lies about 70% of the time.

70%? You mean, 30% of the time he is telling the truth? When was that? I seem to have missed his truthful moments. Can't recall any.
Oh wait, never mind. Yes, sometimes he does say the truth, like when he said he grabs women by the *****, or when he said he could shoot someone and his followers would still support him. Those were not lies.

A) Ford did not testify about her so called fear of flying.

Actually, Ford did indeed testify about her fear of flying. She says she doesn't like to fly, is extremely anxious when she does fly, but forces herself to fly once or twice a year to visit her family back east, and occasionally for family vacations.

The misunderstanding arose when a GOP senator accused Ford of lying when she said she couldn't attend a Monday session in D.C. because she was afraid to fly; when Ford looked confused by the accusation, one of her attorneys explained that it was Ford's attorney who told Grassley's aides that she was afraid of flying during their negotiations about her testimony.

Well, in truth we do not know that; he might very well have downed a couple of 'skis while writing that opening statement, basically berating the entire democratic party and "revenge of the Clintons" for his woes, lol.

In case anyone missed his message, repeated 10-12 times during his testimony, "I drink beer. I like beer. I like to drink beer."
