IF he were to call Putin a liar on the world stage, many of his haters would say, OMG, he embarasssed the United States.

No they wouldn't. They would say it's about time Trump stood up to Russia on behalf of American democracy. But you don't have to take my word for it, there are PLENTY of tweets which said this very thing before the summit.

This is the way I see it. Better to be in communication, especially face to face with a supposed enemy, especially one who can wipe you off the face of the planet than not.
