Climate Alarmists Caught Faking Sea Level Rise

Always impressed at the rank amateurs who understand sea level measurement trends AND Greenland ice changes AND oceanography AND basic physics AND population biology of polar bears AND forest ecology AND the lifecycle of pine bark beetles AND the impact of cosmic rays on atmospherics AND the methodology of determining scientific consensus...all much better than the experts in each of those areas.

yeah, cause none of us have ever read data on graphs and charts. only the experts have, right? who enters the data is what the issue is and why they enter what they do. you should actually educate yourself as to the manipulation that has been exposed. And it takes a genius to follow trends. cause that's far too difficult for lay people right? so your solution is to question no one and just say yes-sa

No.

Read something and then comment.

IPCC - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

[h=1]The Climate of Gavin[/h]Guest Post by Willis Eschenbach Gavin Schmidt, who I am given to understand is a good computer programmer, is one of the principals at the incongruously named website “RealClimate”. The name is incongruous because they censor anyone who dares to disagree with their revealed wisdom. I bring this up because I’m on Twitter, @WEschenbach. You’re…

Too large to be useful. Qualifies as another content-free dodge.

He and many warmists IGNORE the published modeling failures from the IPCC, yet treat like it is correct and holy.

What a mess!

[h=1]Hockeystick Redux Chapter Fortyleven[/h]Guest Post by Willis Eschenbach [See update at the end] Since publishing my last two posts here and here on the Church and White (“C&W”) 2011 sea level dataset, some folks have queried why I didn’t use the Church and White 2013 dataset instead. The answer is simple. It’s because of the hockeystick. What hockeystick, you…

[h=1]Dr. Roy Spencer on the sea level spat between Gavin and Willis[/h]Dr Roy Spencer writes: There is a continuing debate over sea level rise, especially how much will occur in the future. The most annoying part of the news media reporting on the issue is that they imply sea level rise is all the fault of humans. This is why the acceleration of sea level rise…

Makes perfect sense.
My only contention is that they start from the premise that Church & White is correct,
and I think they did quite a bit of cherry picking to get their numbers.

There are very few cherries to indicate past sea levels though.

we should heed the words of the famous oceanographer, Carl Wunsch, who said,

“At best, the determination and attribution of global-mean sea-level change lies at the very edge of knowledge and technology. Both systematic and random errors are of concern, the former particularly, because of the changes in technology and sampling methods over the many decades, the latter from the very great spatial and temporal variability. It remains possible that the database is insufficient to compute mean sea-level trends with the accuracy necessary to discuss the impact of global warming, as disappointing as this conclusion may be.”

Yep, the idea of putting the data from computer measuring automatic continious monitoring alongside the numbers from 1890 written down by an alcoholic ex-navy harbour master who measured the tide level from the window of his office is nuts.

The linear trend is 3.4 mm/yr which comes to 3.0 inches over the 33 year record.

At least they had to push the date out!
The 2040, or 2050 predictions are starting to look preposterous.
Of course at the stated 3 mm/ year rate, sea levels in 2300 would be up
less than 2 feet, so even 50 feet is a reach.
Such statement is followed usually include several other contributing factors,
like all the ice in Greenland melting, etc.

Trump is irrelevant to this discussion.
The primary scientific challenge to AGW orthodoxy comes from Europe and Israel. It's proponents are not especially political, but their leanings seem to be to Euro-style Social Democracy.

Bull

****

Trump is NOT irrelevant, the USA are the biggest pigs on the planet and now won't even agree to clean it up.

Keep that head buried in the sand as each new hurricane is stronger and longer than the one before.

As I said before, after 20 years listening to the 'anti' bull**** you can post a thousand times a day....But come up here, come and see my glacier that's half the size it was 30 years ago. Talk to people who have been studying it. Do that and your crazy notions will fizzle as everyone's does when they see it.

Usually the base of a glacier is rife with new life as time as added nutrients, now the foot looks more like an atomic test site.

Just like ****ing Auschwitz, the evidence is there to be seen, touched...and still there are those who deny

Glaciers come and go. Yawn.
Hurricanes are neither stronger nor more numerous than they have been for decades. The data are clear. The only increase is in hype.

From my daily search on Sea Level in the news:

Tidalgate: Climate Alarmists Caught Faking Sea Level Rise

Alarmist scientists have been caught red-handed tampering with
raw data in order to exaggerate sea level rise.

...
When alarmists in charge of surface temperature datasets make
dishonest adjustments to exaggerate the appearance of global
warming, it looks like corruption.

When alarmists in the entirely separate field of sea level measurement
make precisely the same sort of dishonest adjustments in order to
accord with the same global warming narrative, it starts to look
like a conspiracy.

If you read some of the first pages in this thread - you will find that it wasn't the PSMSL
that changed the data it was NOAA, and it seems to be a one off. Anyway, the PSMSL
is a good web site for sea level data. And with this exception, NOAA is too.

It's the fear mongering press that blabs about multi-meter sea level rise that shouldn't
be believed.
