China shows why we needed to shut it all down for a month!

You don't believe in God. You're with mammon. You've made that quite clear.

If you are right and I don't believe in God then I am going to hell. Don't go to hell yourself just because of me.

At least I don't have to stop working, because my company is currently helping build more hospital beds. I still feel sorry for the poor saps who must sacrifice their livelihoods for however long it will take to calm people down from their fears over infections.

Hey, 'you got yours' right?

Interesting how you just flipped our conversation from about people's lives to about how people make a living. Right back to economics. I see which you care more about.

Nearly 1.25 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day.
An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled.
More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15-44.
Road traffic crashes rank as the 9th leading cause of death and account for 2.2% of all deaths globally.

And we are worried about Corona Virus. Seriously, we should be more worried about getting back on the road to go back to work.

The comparison seemed to be US vs China, so why did you post global vehicle accident numbers?

It's more like 40,000/yr in the US.

I am truly sorry for the loss so many millions of Americans are suffering and will suffer before this panic is over, but, yes, I thank God I will still have a job because our company is currently building several public schools and one hospital extension with more on the books to be built.

yea, with any luck, 5 of those 6 high schools will be built by minority vendors of the country's MBDE program as design-build projects

I do not think American spacecraft should be built by craftsmen who are chosen on the basis of color as opposed to superior qualifications, and I don't think teachers should be chosen by color instead of aptitude either.

they aren't. first, they are found qualified. then they are considered for the project before non-minority vendors
if they are not found qualified, then there is no set-aside

Those are world wide stats

Now lets take a look at what has been done to limit and reduce vehicle related deaths. All increasing the cost of a vehicle

Seat belts, air bags, crush zones, speed limits, driver training. So we spend mass amounts of money each and every year to reduce the number of deaths and injuries from vehicle accidents. Imagine the deaths and outcry if all of those precautions were eliminated because it was to expensive and not good for the economy

You are correct, we do spend a fortune on vehicle safety. Money, weight and Carbon footprint all increased substantially. I am looking forward to AI driven cars. once we get automated cars that do not smash into each other due to human error, we can start scaling back on the weight and energy consumed shuffling people around. Ideally, I would love public transportation for a super efficient method of transferring citizens, unfortunately, we are getting a taste of the downfall of this form of transprotation.

i believe AI will take us to that place of public transportation
massive fleet of individual transporters that we will summon as needed
think of it as AI Uber
