The two-state solution was never a serious, viable proposal at any point.

But this way at least the West will start to recognize that the Palestinian people deserve basic, sovereignty, and dignity and protection from the occupier state, which has never itself been interested in a two-state solution because it has nakedly worked consistently to deny Palestinians any sovereignty at all.

As I said, there’s no reason to remotely care about Hamas until Israel is prevented from continuing its borderline genocide and expelled from Palestinian land.

Period.
 
Hamas will now abandon its chartered mission to destroy Israel and exterminate all the Jews, then be a great force for peace! After all, it's never had a territory to run.

How about we all have a Two State solution in Palestine/Israel or failing that we Canadians bring to Canada millions of very angry Palestinians as refugees and settle them along the USA-Canada border. Seems a Two-State solution would be the lesser of two evils to the number one backer of the State of Israel - the US Government. What about that as incentive to sort this out in the Levant instead of building a New Jerusalem for Palestinians here in the New World?

“The change in the position of the Canadian government at this time is a reward for Hamas and harms the efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and a framework for the release of the hostages,” the Ministry stated.

“Let us be clear: Israel will not bow to the distorted campaign of international pressure against it,” Israel’s Ambassador to Canada Iddo Moed said in an X post from the embassy. “We will not sacrifice our very existence by permitting the imposition of a jihadist state on our ancestral homeland that seeks our annihilation.”

If more countries commit, it will still mean absolutely nothing.

It will encourage more violence from the Palestinians though, which will result in more Israeli self defense against that violence.
