Can Trump survive the new House investigations?

Could have been better, but also could have been worse.

Georgia was stolen. Pour every resource into that crooked gubernatorial election.
Typical scumbag GOP tricks.

Worse than typical. Blatant. Voting machines at an Atlanta (!) precinct failed for HOURS.
The DNC needs to grow some balls and get on camera and call this election tampering.

Will depend on what they find and the evidence. Remember Nixon was pretty much untouchable until the tapes...

Oh yea..there is nothing to see here. Its been hiding in plain sight for two years...the GOP just would not investigate it. Depends on what they find?
Rampant abuse of power
Rampant abuse of the emoluments clause
Obstruction of Justice
Corruption on an unheard of scale by at least half the remaining cabinet as well as the President himself
Oh and then there is that little Russia thing
His tax returns which he will not be able to keep out of the hands of House Ways and Means no matter what dingdong KellyAnne says

Of course KellyAnne won't be around much longer anyway. There will be a tidal wave of staffers exiting the WH as they will try to avoid the onrushing avalanche of subpoenas and investigations.

The House will put together some legislation which the GOP controlled Senate won't pass unless Trump wants it to pass. I put that at all of two possibilities, a Family Leave Bill and Infrastructure. The House will pass many more bills than that as a means to keep poking Trump and the GOP right in the eye in full view of the Electorate. See ya' Donald. You just lost your re-election bid.

The great shift in power tonight means that now Democrats have the power to investigate the activities of the president. They can subpoena witnesses. They can subpoena Trump’s tax returns.

Can Trump survive genuine oversight? Can he survive an investigation into Kushner’s family loans from Qatar? Can he survive an investigation into his attempts to punish Jeff Bezos? Can he survive a subpoena of his bank transactions with Russian bank?

His only worry was the Mueller investigation. Now he’ll have multiple investigations that can lead to impeachment to worry about.

Trump will not survive this.

Right...that pack of numbskulls in the New House?

Meanwhile, the President will CONTINUE RESHAPING THE JUDICIARY, Re-Negotiating treaties, appointing who he WANTS in his Cabinet, , while retaining the power to VETO any bull**** bills the Dem House comes up with.

One more point I meant to make.

If the Democrats try to Impeach for actions not related to Russian collusion or for things that happened before he was POTUS then it will not get past the Senate. IMHO

I don't see them interested in doing that, but financial malfeasance has everything to do with the conspiracy issues with Russia.

He will survive insofar as he will serve out the remainder of his term, but he’s not going to find the avalanche of subpoenas to be very much fun.

Subpoena? Like they've been subpoenaing the DOJ for years and gotten nothing. Lmao. Trump will be just fine. The dims will have two years to show America what a bunch of no gooders they are. Obstruct and resist progress, it's the liberal way. Destroy all they touch, people, cities, states....

Unfortunately for Carrot top, much of what gets thrown at him in the next 24 months is going to stick. None of his nonsense has ever been well hidden. The GOP led Congress simply refused to engage its oversight function...hardly paid lip service to it.

The House will also Legislate even if the Bills they pass out of it can't or won't pass the Senate. They will be Bills based on what the bulk of the American people want as opposed to what some minority coupled with "friends of Donald" want.

The degree to which the Right now offers that the Dems can't walk and chew bubblegum at the same time is funny to watch. The Dems can and will both Legislate and Investigate out of the House. The American people will note and catalog every single time a Bill that suits the bulk of them passes out of the House and stalls in the Senate. The GOP has made it simply too obvious that they are a bunch of craven, spineless sycophants. Nobody will believe that Senate inaction is anything more than Trump wielding his power over GOP Senators.

Don't actually know which is funnier, watching the Donald immediately try to "threaten" Dems not to come after him with subpoena's and investigations out of the House or the GOP generally trying to convince itself that it will not face both Legislative efforts and Government Oversight out of the House.

Whatever gets your engines revved.

I just hope you won't be too disappointed if Trump survives to see 2020.

That isn't even the point. The point was to check this out-of-control president and stop his legislative agenda dead in its tracks. Now we get to do both!

They're going to shoot themselves in the foot with this stuff because people will see it for what it is, petty, vindictive and wholly political. I have few doubts they'll be seeing Trump until January, 2025.

We'll see. If the Democrats try to stretch then they may fall on their faces which would hurt the overall case for Mueller. I just want the truth to come out without anything hidden or anything exaggerated.

You and I both.

The #1 goal right now should be the avoidance of anything partisan and keeping the Mueller investigations unaffected by Sessions removal.

Agreed. This is too damned important to the health of the nation and the people's ability to trust our government.

Basically, you're saying "**** the American people! We just wanna stop Trump!"

The American people voted for a Democratic House. They wanted this to happen. And now it will happen!

More importantly, will the Sedition-o-crats SURVIVE the NEW USAG's investigation into the SPYING/SEDITION conspiracy?

Trump will survive.

He has the Senate. He will not be removed from office.

And no amount of shame or slime will affect how his devoted followers see him. No matter how much more slime or crime is found, his followers will say (a) it's underwhelming and (b) it's a Democratic witch hunt.

That's what I don't get. Are we supposed to believe that the House can ram through investigations, with no oversight from the Senate?

I know it's not the same as enacting laws, but checks and balances should prevent either House or Senate from having total power about anything.

Well the dems may be slow learners but it wasn't all that long ago when the repubs made it very clear and public...stop
Obama. And that was from the very start.

Right wing partisanship is required and patriotic.

Left wing partisans are traitors.

Legally, no. He cannot survive the subpoenas and the check on his authoritarian style of governing. The only way he can is if every Republican Senator disregards the Constitution in exchange for their asses to be able to continue to sit in their plush leather chairs in Congress.

So let me get this straight. The senate and house both conducted many hearings on Benghazi.

Yet now you claim that the house will need permission to have their own hearings on trump et al ?

Haven't the slightest idea where you get that.

I think the House will just spin its wheels and get no where. And in the process demonstrate their immorality so openly that they will get swept in 2020.

Possibly I didn't make myself clear. I wasn't asking about "permission" as such, but rather about whether the House could enact any measure on which the Senate would not have input.

Now, it may be that the only "checks and balances" would come down to both Congressional bodies voting on an impeachment motion. But if that's the case, then I don't know why so many pundits act like the Democratic dominion of the House is like the death-knell for Trump.
