Can Trump survive the new House investigations?

Yes, he will.

The Republicans still control the Senate. They actually gained at least 4 seats as of this post, and it may go up to 5.

While the House can investigate and vote to initiate impeachment proceedings, the Senate tries the case and votes whether to oust the President or not.

So Pelosi and the others can enjoy their investigations, but if the issue is brought before the Senate then Trump will remain in office.

Moreover, it is more likely to backfire on the Democrats, just as the Republican attempt to impeach Clinton blew up in their faces. I did not vote for Clinton the first time, but I did the second time he ran exactly because I disagreed with the Republican's spiteful attempt to impeach him. I think voters would do the same if the Dems tried it with Trump.

One more point I meant to make.

If the Democrats try to Impeach for actions not related to Russian collusion or for things that happened before he was POTUS then it will not get past the Senate. IMHO
 
What are the investigations going to find? If all they find is what we think we already know then it looks like shamming, like they are ragging on Trump because that is more fun than getting Americas work done, and that might not go over too well with America, especially when the economic collapse shows up.

This is what Democrats should do.

If it was good enough for Clinton and Obama, it's good enough for Trump.

Further, no Republican bills should come to the floor, period. No more tax cuts for the rich, no dumbass border wall, and no more cuts to social safety nets.

Next, they should work towards more healthcare reforms, so Trump can show those voters that believe he cares about healthcare, just how much he doesn't.

Nothing's going to get past the Senate, but it will likely damage Trump enough politically that he'll either not run in 2020 or lose badly in 2020, unless the Dems do something stupid like nominate Hillary again.

The Dems could **** up a two-car funeral procession, so I wouldn't put the last part past them.

Say what one may, but Pelosi is extremely shrewd and highly skilled. I suspect she is already above and beyond what you or I may envision.

Tonight could have been better for the Dems.

We could have had 45+ seats, but instead we're going to settle for something around 33, because some people haven't had enough abuse to learn these elections matter.

If people don't think Trump can win again, they might just get a Democratic senate in 2020, but with that buffoon still in the WH.

Yeah, but like I said: She is disliked, but amazingly excellent at what she does. She will not just stand toe-to-toe with Trump, but can school him as well. Good luck in him getting a negotiation that he can sell to his base, like the one's he got from Ryan.

That, in my opinion, is the only way impeachment would make sense. I don't take impeachment lightly at all because if it is used as a form of silent coup, then this country is in real trouble.

At 11 PM PDT I have it 51 to 42 with 2 others. So the dems need the rest...all 5 seats and just to keep what they had.

Yes, I am assuming even if the 'other' caucuses with the dems.

I will be so relieved when the amoral criminals currently leading the house investigative committees are replaced by responsible adults - the Democrats. Under the Democrats the truth about the criminality of trump and his GOP enablers will be finally exposed.

The only real important thing is that the dems will have the majority. How much of one, is immaterial.

Plus if the democrats are finally ready to learn from the repubs, then they keep the pres. around

and use him and the rest of the repubs as whipping boys and spank them for 2 years. By 2020 the US may

well have a fully dem federal govt. again.

What a lot of people don’t get is that it’s The investigations that kill you. If Republicans had control of both houses, Watergate is never investigated. If LBJ had a Republican House, they would have investigated his misuse of the FBI for political advantage.

Senate Republicans can vote not to remove him but again that depends on the evidence. No matter how loyal they are if the evidence is overwhelmingly they’ll have to go with the evidence.

But I’m not saying Trump will be removed. I’m saying he will not survive politically. He’ll be exposed for the criminal he is.
