Black Police Chief Urges People dial 911 for Racism , But Burglars Are Free to Rob and Steal

Words are not hate crimes. you have to prove they are.
SO far no one has done what you describe.

SO why are you not dealing with the topic instead of making stuff up?

Hate crimes are the topic. An assault where the attacker yelled racial slurs at the victim would be an example of a hate crime.

The use of racial slurs is evidence of a racial motivation for the crime, that's what you're not getting. The police can use that to push for harsher charges against the defendant, THAT'S why the police chief wants people to report racial slurs. Is it starting to make sense yet?

Yeah and getting sued for violation of the freedom of speech is going to put her department in a huge hole.
it could possibly get her fired.

she should worry about real crimes not words.

As I've always claimed, it's not proof. 99% of the time that racial slurs are employed in a crime, it's not a hate crime; it's a racist committing a property crime.

Your reasoning is flawed. The police chief wants people to call 911 because Seattle is a nazi hotspot and the nazis are attempting to incite violence in hope of widespread chaos. They're nazis, they're nuts, report them.

again she cannot arrest people for calling someone a name.
it is 100% unconstitutional. she will get sued and lose.

Hate crimes are the topic. An assault where the attacker yelled racial slurs at the victim would be an example of a hate crime.

no hate crimes is not the topic.

none of what you mention is listed in the OP. your failure to read is why you are wrong.

Actually, hate crimes were the exact subject of the statements given by the police chief. Which you would know if you had read the linked articles. I guess you didn't.

Equating racism and name calling is racist.

We'll remember your apathetic reaction to disorder, the next time you're crying about something completely trivial and inconsequential.

Didn't know that you share your account. That explains a lot.

Hate crimes are the topic. An assault where the attacker yelled racial slurs at the victim would be an example of a hate crime.

Amid a coronavirus outbreak that has hit Washington state particularly hard, the chief of the Seattle police department on Monday urged residents to contact law enforcement to report “racist name calling.”
First line of the article.

that is not a hate crime, nor is it an arrest able offense.

Equating racism and name calling is racist.

name calling is name calling it is a 1st amendment protected activity.
nothing i said was racist but that is your go to when you can't articulate and argument.

just scream racism.

Trump doesn't get to decide to prosecute people. He's not a member of the judicial branch at all.
Except the judicial branch doesn't do the prosecuting - their role is to judge. The Justice Department, under the President, does the prosecuting.

name calling is name calling it is a 1st amendment protected activity.

Pretending racism is the same thing as name calling is racist. It's ignores racism, pretends it doesn't really exist; serves racists.

No it doesn't however calling someone a name no matter what that name is protected by the 1st amendment.
there is nothing the police can do about it.

Now if they are screaming it then they can be arrested for being a public nuisance or disturbing the peace.
They can't be arrested for saying it.

I know you don't like facts but that is what they are per the SCOTUS.
I guess this police chief can arrest people but then she will be sued and lose.

Racism is more than name calling. When someone calls someone a racist slur, it represents the perpetuation of injustice. It represents the perpetuation of oppression. It represents the concerted effort to keep black people, as a race, down.

When someone calls someone an asshole, it ends there. There are no deeper implications.

It's not the same. It's racist to pretend it is because that ignores the injustice and thereby contributes to its perpetuation.

This is why the police chief is urging people not to take justice in their owns hands but to call the police at such instances.

The nazis of Seattle should not be allowed to attempt to incite widespread violence. You seek to pretend the nazi's war against the minorities of Seattle is legal and just. You cheer the nazis on and tell them they're right.

You're promoting nazi violence with racist bs.

It doesn't matter what you think it does.

When someone calls someone an asshole, it ends there. There are no deeper implications.
Again your opinion. The person being called the asshole would disagree, but either way it doesn't matter.

Calling someone a name is calling them a name. I can range from racist to someone being a little more than a 3 year old saying someone is a poopie head.

This is why the police chief is urging people not to take justice in their owns hands but to call the police at such instances.

In which the police can do nothing. If they try they can be sued.
it is protected by the 1st amendment. this is what you don't understand for some reason.

Inciting widespread violence and calling for people to attack other people is against the law in general.
as usual you have no friggen clue what you are talking about.

No where have i ever agreed with calling anyone a racial slur. Those are despicable people that do it.
No i don't cheer them on, however i will defend their right to stay stupid **** just like i will defend your right to say stupid ****.
the right to say stupid **** is protected by the first amendment.

You're promoting nazi violence with racist bs.

No where have i promoted violence.

Speech is not violence it is simply speech.
if they get violent or if anyone gets violent then i would expect the police to do something about it.

someone calling someone else a name is not violence.
you might not like what they call you, and they might be morons and idiots, but
there is nothing the police can do.

It doesn't matter what you think it does.

Keep promoting racism and nazi violence with your racist false equivalence.

Keep promoting racism and nazi violence with your racist false equivalence.

as usual you prove that you are not capable of actually addressing the discussion and have to lie and make stuff up that people are not saying.
why do you have to be so dishonest?

this is what you do though when you can't address the argument all you do is cry racist and racism. which means you lose.

The fact is the fact she cannot arrest anyone for saying words.
actually i will promote the constitution and what the constitution says even if i disagree with what the person is saying.

Basically what you are saying is if a black guy or any other minority calls me a cracker they should be arrested for violence.
why do you think they should be arrested?

as usual you prove that you are not capable

I'm not capable of buying your nazi bs. You encourage nazis and promote their violence with your false equivalence.

Racism is a threat to a race. It's not merely "name calling".

Racism is a threat to a race. It's not merely "name calling".

So if a black guy or other minority calls me a cracker they should be arrested then according to you.
no you are not capable of a logical argument which is why you always scream racist at everyone.

So if a black guy or other minority calls me a cracker they should be arrested then according to you.

White people are not an oppressed power minority, so it's not a threat to white people. Under some circumstances, such as bigots attempting to sow chaos through the employment of bigoted terms, inciting violence, I could see a police chief recommending to call the police and do not otherwise respond to such attempts.

no you are not capable of a logical argument

Your bar is so low. You really believe, for you to win, it must be so?

That is being racists. So why are you defending racism? they should be arrested for racist words. that is what you just said should happen.
so now we see that you are defending racism. why are you defending something that you are supposedly against?
You just said someone should be arrested for promoting racism so then you are 100% for a minority person being arrested for calling me a cracker.

no where did i see violence mentioned in what she said.
mid a coronavirus outbreak that has hit Washington state particularly hard, the chief of the Seattle police department on Monday urged residents to contact law enforcement to report “racist name calling.”

please show me where she said violence?
she said name calling.

name calling is not violence.

Actually my bar is quite high. You see the constitution sets a very high bar on what is punishable by the government.
the 1st amendment is actually one of the highest bars there is. Too bad the court doesn't give strict reading to all the amendments.

Pluralist.com is rated between right and extreme. If one could point to instances where they denounced racial profiling or hate speech, some of Trump’s bigoted comments, etc., they might sound credible.
Well, here's a link to the tweet that encourages people to call 911 for non-crimes. What part of the tweet is not credibly attributable to the Chief?

In order for there to be a "hate crime," two elements must be present. Name-calling is not a criminal act. Therefore, the crime element is missing.

If someone calls a black (or brown) man names, say in public in front of his kids, probable better be calls someone than slugs the jerk. It’s arguably a form of hateful harassment; it’s not like a wolf-whistle. Recent mass shootings put us on notice that we have a problem.
