Believe it or not, but there are more options than Sanders or Trump in a nation of 330M. The idea that we the sheeple must vote for either the "D" or "R" selection offered us is the problem.

If you have a choice between a broken leg or broken arm (and you don't choose), that doesn't mean you don't get a broken limb. It just means someone chooses which limb gets broken for you. Unfortunately, we are a two-party dominant system. The president in 2020 WILL be an R or a D. It's that simple. They wrote the rules to keep themselves in power and ultimately (and effectively) keep third parties from being president. Not picking one just gives you a result you aren't going to like anyway.

It's a huge cost, for sure. Childcare costs in America can be very, very expensive. Colorado added Kindegarden to public school, so you don't have to pay for that here now. It's harder to say if pre-K should be included in that. But single parent homes can really suffer under the costs of childcare. Some families that are fortunate enough to be able to make it with 1 income sometimes choose to be single-income because the other parent couldn't make enough to justify the childcare costs.

So we can talk about this being a "give away", but there is a real issue at the heart of it here. I don't agree with Sander's solutions to most these problems, but what he does talk about are actual issues that exist.

So far all of our efforts have been spotty, opposed, and half assed. It is possible that the povery rate cannot be helped by these methods, but until there is a real concerted effort, we may never know either.

That is not entirely true - in many cases it requires having a minor dependent (or two or three) to get that "free" stuff.

I am dead serious. It was not a complaint. Some workplaces allow pets already. Other workplaces have in house child care as incentives. I think that is a fine trend. Dang, why dp people go in the attack mode so quick?

It's already $15 here in San Jose, but full-time childcare runs about $300-400 a week per child. If you have say 2-3 kids, that can be as much as your wages. Employers should be forced to pay for that as part of a livable wage.

What Sanders describes as "free" is simply having others paying for that good/service based on those others allegedly having "too much" income/wealth. When the goal is ever more equality of outcome (via government enforced income/wealth redistribution) then the incentive to produce as much as, if not more than, one's household consumes largely disappears. When all basic needs become "rights" (supplied "free" by the government) then one only need work (on the books) in order to secure luxuries.
