The case of a British Jewish child forced to leave his Berlin school after being subjected to anti-Semitic violence has provoked outrage and soul-searching in Germany. The 14-year-old, who cannot be named under child protection laws, was beaten, kicked and threatened with a replica gun after he revealed to fellow pupils that he was Jewish.

His British mother, who asked not to be named to protect the identity of her son, told the The Daily Telegraph the school had done little to stop the bullying.

“They told us this is normal for adolescents from this background, that they’re just trying to find their identity,” she said. “But it shouldn’t be normal. I’ve never experienced such direct anti-Semitism before in all the years I’ve lived in Germany.”



The case, which follows several incidents in which people wearing skullcaps or other outward signs of Jewishness have been beaten on the streets of Berlin, has prompted concern over the extent of anti-Semitic feeling in the Muslim community.

“In some German mosques, anti-Semitism is being actively encouraged,” said Josef Schuster, head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.

Antisemitism is poised to make a big comeback in Germany, but it won't be blonde, blue eyed Aryans carrying the torch this time.

There is quite a bit of xenophobia in Germany, where the Minister of the Interior has just proposed a list of points of cultural homogenisation aimed at immigrants. Quite a bit of resentment towards Americans have sneaked into political agendas, though, these are usually attached to topics and in the population Muslims are certainly more widely aggressively disliked than one would like to believe. Incidence of violence against minorities is sadly high.

My reaction is that political correctness is so strong in favor of muslims that the authorities are afraid to protect Jews from harassment

So why doesn't the Alt right and white nationalists protect the Jews from harassment? Or don't they like Jews, either?

Anyway...the OP story is over a month old and the German school is giving anti-semitism and anti-racist workshops for all their students now....

The usual Trans-Ponder failure one has come to expect in this forum.

Better said, failure from the usual Trans-Ponders.

The kid in question was insulted by one (ONE) fellow pupil months ago who told him "you're actually quite cool but I can't be your friend because all Jews are murderers".

The kid who said that left the school some time ago.

The "beating and kicking" consisted of two (TWO) other kids, weeks later, taking the target into a half-Nelson at the local bus stop and "threatening" him with a toy gun, shouting "Hey, you Englander".

School management reacted to the first incident immediately by holding a class seminary over it with cooperation of social workers .

The second incident was immediately reported to the police and the two perps of the bus stop are being expelled.

Due to the ethnic mix of my origins I was bullied far worse in school (physical injuries included) until I started beating the crap out of the bullies myself.

Meanwhile there isn't any sign of the Grand Mufti's hordes walking in step with the brown shirts but the sun rose in the East this morning and is scheduled to do the same tomorrow.

No one has gone as far as to drive a lorry into Muslim shoppers though, correct? Or slash Muslim passengers on a train. Or target Muslim women for rape. Yet all the things I've mentioned were actual events that Muslim immigrants carried out against Germans. I'm more concerned about those types of violent behaviors than about supposed xenophobia amongst Germans.

My "again" referred to the influx of Jews alone in the two decades from 1990 to 2010.

In that time some 220,000 immigrated.

Obviously not sharing your scepticism.

they have certainly bounced around over history. Estimates are anywhere from 140,000 to 5 times that number of Israelis living in the US so perhaps Israel cant absorb any more. The average income in Israel is $2,572 so not a high living standard.
