Because of Donald Trump, Canadians Boycotting U.S. Products and Canceling Vacations to America

Guess what, buddy...your American manufacturers are buying just as many parts, directly from these places, because it's cheaper to do so. You want that to stop? lol...

This isn't a problem and nobody wants to stop this. US companies buying parts from Asia...the tariffs are complied with.

Riiiight… ;)

Again, you wanna put your knowledge against mine on this? What's your occupation, other than "Director of Believing Everything Trump Says"? I'm willing to give my nod to your superior understanding...but from the guy who monitors, arranges, and drives efficiencies around the movement of auto parts around a global supply chain, it looks a tiny bit different from what you're reporting... lol

Don't worry about what I know. Make your own case, if you can.

i wonder if the Trumpists will insist that we need to start calling Canadian bacon "freedom bacon."

Another first for President Trump. Pissing off both of our immediate neighbors.
LOL, the Canadians I met at the SD Zoo yesterday just laughed when I mentioned this. Yeah, just like here there are vocal minorities in Canada that hate Trump, but when it comes to "holidays" as they call vacations touring America is still a top choice.

It's already been made up and down this forum. All I'm seeing from you are memes. Just wondering if you have anything, other than an undying faith in Donald Trump, and a fetish for talking smack about Canada, to offer...?

Two can play at that game. The hell with liberal Canada. They can go suck an egg.

Just Liberal Canada? It's all of Canada, bud. Unlike America, we're able to put aside partisan issues when another, much bigger, country tries to kick dust in our face. Get your idiot president to back down, and we can all go back to making money and being friends.

yawn...

Your comments about me...do not interest me in the slightest. Go cry at someone else.

You are dismissed.

Ok, I'll accept your concession... ;)

And then we'll accept your president's, when an adult informs him of how the world works.

All because we wont let them take advantage of us any longer. Canada is ruining their relationship with the US. Not the otherway around.

What are you talking about?

I'll leave those issues to the experts who are actually engaged in the trade negotiations. I dismiss unrelated "experts and analysts".

If a country has complaints about whatever the US is doing, they should make their complaints known...utilize any dispute procedures already in place...or, if all else fails, renegotiate trade agreements. That's what I expect the US to do. That's what I expect any other country to do.

But do you want, Canada and Mexico to get rid of their tariffs and subsidies, while the us gets to keep its tariffs and subsidies? Is it really fair trade, if only Canada and Mexico have to make concessions and the US does not have to make any?

Prove it! Trump supporters keep on whining that the US is just a big victim when it comes to trade, but they never back up their claims. The US plays just as dirty as anyone when it comes to trade, so no one outside of the US is buying this ''the US is just a poor innocent little lamb when it comes to trade'' ploy you are trying to sell.

How else is he to bring unwilling partners to the table?

And Trump is being reasonable? How? His trade policy seemed to be based on resentment, rather then a logical objective.

That's what I said, liberal Canada. Screw em.

I love how American conservatives seem to decry Anti Americanism in other countries, but reserve the right to hate all other countries if they do not act like the US' pathetic minions, that the US should act like a psychopath on the world stage. Maybe there would be less Anti Americanism in the world, if people like you were actually willing to be considerate to other countries, rather then demand they submit to you in all things.

Its like American conservatives think the US is the only country in the world worthy of sovereignty and Americans are the only people on Earth allowed to be patriotic.

Are you not aware why NAFTA is being renegotiated? Seriously? You don't know this late in the game?

I know that, but I don't buy that NAFTA massively favors Canada over the US, like some Trump supporters like to proclaim, where is your proof? Do you think there is a secret palace in Canada filled with money stolen from America in ''bad trade deals'' or that there is a factory in Burlington Ontario designed solely to steal American jobs?

Sad to see Canada being targeted by the right-wing hate machine. It doesn't deserve it. The U.S. and Canada have been good friends for a long time. There's no reason to elevate a trade dispute to outright hatred, but that's what Trump and his groupies have done.

So sad.

On the topic itself... a Canadian consumer boycott of American goods will have zero impact, mostly because if 51% of a product is manufactured in Canada it will say "made in Canada" even if 49% of the ingredients came from the USA. Unless you do market research you won't know from just looking at the label, and I doubt every person trying to boycott is going to do a web search for every product while standing in the grocery aisles.

In principle though, I get it... and again, I find it tragic. This is a perfect example of how one man's hawkish foreign policy can destroy a decade's old partnership.

Screw the "analysts and experts". Most of them have no idea what Trump is doing or why. They just know it isn't business as usual. Tough ****.

Screw the Canadian shoppers. They are idiots.

The fact is, all this nonsense from them won't help. Canada WILL deal with the US on our terms. That's all there is to it.

Yeah, just screw everybody, right? That's how we do things these days.

No, Canada will not deal with the U.S. on its terms. That's not how trade deals work. You give a little, you get a little. Nobody gets 100% of what they want. If you think it works otherwise with a country as resource rich as Canada, you are deluding yourself and need to stop watching Fox News.

Canada exports the majority of U.S. crude, lumber, and various other natural resources. If Trump wants to return to the isolationist days he can be my guest. Have fun paying through the nose for every day stuff. And no, China will not meet the gap. Buying crude from them is not an option especially as they are already exploiting Africa to make ends meet.

You know that but then start making nonfactual assertions while asking nonsensical questions?
No. I am not buying the bs.

Deal with the reasons NAFTA is being renegotiated.

American conservatives will make their society dysfunctional if they insist seeing everything through a partisan lens.
