Beauty and the Beast's 'exclusively gay moment'

I don't much care if they make the guy do a softcore scene with another guy on screen. Hell, he can go down on another guy for all I care.

It's a friggin' movie...not some newly found pages of the Bible.

What's it to you if there is someone gay in a Disney movie? Don't like it - don't watch it.

Besides, it's 2017 - if anything I would ask: what took Disney so long?

When I stopped watching TV the amount of TV shows that had a theme or two I hated made that too much work.

If changing the channel is too much work then yeah, you shouldn't own a television. Free market wins!

Why? Was the part of the real org story?

They just have to shove gayness down Americas mouth!

In the show "The expanse" there is an interracial gay couple. It's not shoved in your face, there is nothing too forward, it was just... there. No one cared, it was part of the story. That's the right way to do it. Making a huge fuss, big announcement "SEEE!!! WE ARE DIVERSE!!!" is annoying to me. That's how I see it at least.

Making a huge fuss, big announcement "SEEE!!! WE ARE DIVERSE!!!" is annoying to me. That's how I see it at least.

But who is actually doing that?

You know that the majority of the population is straight, right? I wonder if straight people really want to see two dudes make out. I'm going to go with no. You?

So? Most of the population wouldn't **** a hairy manbearpig either, but they'll still go see the movie. Are you seriously saying gays are icky but magical beastiality is a-ok?

I know a few gay folks ......

most like to live fairly quite lives because many of them have lived their lives as targets by those that hate aka bigots

the gay folks I know like to have fun, and they generally don't care to judge others, likely because they have experienced excessive judgment themselves

the straight aka hetero community IMO generally have no idea what the 'gay' community has had to endure since time immemorial

there are two communities that have been persecuted more often & for longer than any other throughout all of humanity; gays & Jews

you can keep on knocking your gays & your Jews; IMO they will just keep giving you **** back in return

Why is it so many people who complain about gays always talk about having things shoved down their throats?

Because for the most part? That is what is done. When someone is gay in a story it is usually a bull**** pandering move and is almost NEVER organic. Think "blacksploitation." Reinforcing stupid stereotypes, or just putting out there in a way so as to make it a "big deal" when it shouldn't be.

I saw an awesome article about something similar when looking at U.K. movies and tv vs America. Interracial couples. I guess I'm technically in an interracial relationship (but my girlfriend is half white and her father might as well be a redneck as he may look Asian but has a thick southern redneck accent), so maybe this is something I feel a bit more passionately about? But I digress. UK tv will have interracial couples in their storylines and it will be organic.

What do I mean? They just exist. They are there. It isn't the plot. It isn't a subplot. It isn't meant to draw attention. It was natural and it worked and there was no need to "stop the presses" over it. They weren't pandering to an audience. I feel like with a lot of what we are seeing now? It is "Disney" trying to make a political statement. They are trying to shoehorn this in to sell tickets. It isn't natural or organic to the story. It will be there to pander to a crowd and to use the OP phrase "shove a" message "down our throats."

So. What am I getting at? I think mainly a lot of the resistance that will NOW happen...especially with the first openly pro LGBTQ GOP president in office...is going to come from the people who want to make us "care" about this stuff. People Who want to keep waiving the rainbow flag at the "rednecks and yocals and damned republicans."

Take it from me...a young southern republican Christian who does NOT care about gay marriage or gay love or whatever. You will not make me care any more about your plight. I'm not going to give you money. I'm not going to preach your gospel. I expect one thing from gay people...be a productive member of society. Other than that? Shut up and live your damn life like the rest of us.

Tl;dr

It is only going to be truly equal for gays, blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, republicans, democrats, and monsters (from that musical)...when nobody gives a **** and nobody gives a **** that nobody gives a **** that nobody gives a ****.

Everything having a gay couple in it wasn't the main reason I gave up TV and movies, but it was at the top of the list.

On a related note, a movie theater in Mississippi isn't showing the movie because of this issue. It's about damn time the progressive Hollywood social engineering agenda gets some push back.

Well the problem with that is that his movie ALREADY has an "agenda" in it. It has a great message. It is about women not being dumb and the princess in the story is one of the few that actually is respectable for her intelligence and not looks. Why muddy the waters?

The original story was written by a woman, which is funny because apparently she was sexist against women.

Isn't the whole beast thing actually a metaphor?

The hypocrisy is strong in this one.

https://www.vice.com/en_au/article/lesbians-on-lesbian-porn-being-the-worlds-favourite-for-another-year-running

Earlier this month PornHub released its stats for 2016, and for a second year running "lesbian porn" came out on top as the site's most searched-for term, just behind "step-mom". This is likely because lesbian porn is popular with both guys and girls – women in North America were 86 percent more likely to search for "lesbian" than North American men, for instance – while "step-mom" porn is presumably a pretty male interest.

Then just think of the gay scene as a metaphor for hairy manbearpig romance and you won't have an issue.

It's not a metaphor for anything. It wouldn't even make sense as one. The beast form was a metaphor to speak towards who he was as a person. The whole reason the spell broke was because he changed as person thanks to Belle. That's the damn magic of the story, which is apparently the same part that makes it sexist.

Cool story. Notice how I spoke towards dudes, not chicks? lol.

That is why it hypocrisy. Being gay is not a male gender thing, women do it to. But while men have no problem with women playing with each other they do with men.

I haven't heard that. I know a lot of women who love Belle because she was intelligent

So? Most men are attracted to women. It makes sense.

I hear there is a theater in Alabama that is refusing to play it because they are "Christians" first. I'm sure you can see what you like there. Anyone forcing you to watch it?

Most people are not libertarians. Why do libertarians have to cram their ideology down our throats?

Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve wrote the original titled La Belle et la Bête, while Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont's version is the one the 1991 film was based on.

We only try, but liberals succeed. :D
