All 4 living former presidents say Trump’s claim that they wanted a border wall is false

Which, again, means that Trump lied. “A wall in some form” is A) a cop-out and B) incredibly vague. It’s like saying they agreed Trump was special because they all supported the idea that the office of the presidency is important......you can twist the idea of “agreeing to some form” very easily.

That was my term - but be argumentative if you want. They all supported walls and added to it.

The article actually doesn't support the headline. Statements from the presidents noted only that they haven't spoken with President Trump about the wall.

Oh? Which one is the "some of them have told me that we should have done it?" He claimed former presidents TOLD him they supported a wall. They have all said he is making that bs up. Do you ever get tired of this?

I dont know about Carter..but I DO know there is video evidence of Clinton, Bush AND Obama not only proudly boasting of their achievement in building walls but in their effectiveness in fighting illegal immigration.

But NOW those ****ing liars are desperate to draw a distinction between a 'wall' and a fence'.

because of COURSE they are.

****ing hypocrites, the lot of them.

Which one TOLD him the support his wall?

As usual, this comes down to the deciphering of TrumpSpeak - which is not an easy task.

Did "some" past POTUS office holders advocate for and sign bills to fund building physical barriers on the border? Yep.

Did Trump talk to "some of them" and get the impression that they favored placing more (or better) barriers on the border? Maybe.

Did all (or all living?) past POTUS office holders even converse with Trump on the matter? Nope.

The difficulty is trying to discern Trump's meaning from his word salad (aka TrumpSpeak). He seems to want to point out that he is not the first (or only?) POTUS to want more effective border security and to advocate building a physical barrier as part of that effort.

My verdict - TrumpSpeak works and/or fails in mysterious ways.

With more than 100,000,000 Americans eligible to be president, why would anyone choose a person who constantly needs to be deciphered?

I wasn’t wrong about former President Carter ( why are you communists always disrespectful ). Yesterday this same topic was brought up, and He had no comment.

Yesterday he had made no comment....he had not replied No Comment. Very different.

Maybe not while they were president, but they all, with the exception of Carter, at one time during their political careers voted for lawful, secure borders; physical infrastructure, fences.

In 2006, Jr. senator Obama Voted YES on building a fence along the Mexican border; physical infrastructure enhancements to prevent unlawful border entry.

Barack Obama on Immigration

Pres. G.W. Bush:
"We're a nation of laws, and we must enforce our laws,"
"America needs to secure our borders--and with your help, my administration is taking steps to do so. We’re increasing worksite enforcement, deploying fences and advanced technologies to stop illegal crossings."

George W. Bush on Immigration

Pres. Bill Clinton:
"We must not tolerate illegal immigration. Since 1992, we have increased our Border Patrol by over 35%; deployed underground sensors, infrared night scopes and encrypted radios; built miles of new fences; and installed massive amounts of new lighting."

Bill Clinton on Immigration

Pres. Carter
He pretty much looked the other way while illegals were coming over the southern border in droves.

And this equals supporting a cement wall on the total border exactly how?

That's a nice new goal post you've erected.

But in response to the one the OP is kicking towards, which President talked with Trump?

FWIW, support for a 'wall' in location X in 1994 doesn't imply for support for a 'wall' everywhere else along the southern border any more than supporting funding for 10 fighter jets in 1996 means that you must (or will) support buying 1,000 fighter jets in 2019. Or that if you support expanding the interstate in State Y in 1996 that you must, therefore, support any expansion of the interstate system, anywhere and everywhere, for all of the rest of time.

This logic might elude many of the Trump supporters. (Along with Trump himself)

I don't care... the point is that nobody knows what is a lie or isn't, in this case. Why waste a mili-second of time debating who lied?

LOL Everybody knows who's lying here. No need to debate it at all.

Exactly, and the left is here to remind you that you are "immoral" if you support racist fences, barriers, walls.

Liars, big pots calling the kettle, all of them... and then they think they have the authority to call Trump a liar.

Trump is a liar. Name the day of his presidency that he has not told a lie.

Which president ever proposed building a wall on the southern border?
The Secure Fence Act of 2006 - Obama voted for it, Bush signed it. It authorized the same sort of steel plank bollard fencing currently at issue.

He SPECIFICALLY noted that there was no infrastructure in place to catch them if they voted. That's tantamount to telling them that they won't get caught if they vote.

And of course they would risk everything to go cast one vote in 139 million, because that would change everything!!! Too ridiculous to even consider. But we'll keep hearing this refrain to explain Trump's huge loss of the popular vote.

Trump is a liar. Name the day of his presidency that he has not told a lie.

SSDD

Got anything else to refute what I actually wrote above?

Nah, I didn't think so...

:2wave:

Your lies are disgusting. He did not tell her that. His words are right there.

Trump Fan Nation is a vile place. You actually sit there pushing a lie that any idiot can see for himself.

You should be ashamed, but you aren't. Like Trump, you are a-okay with lying.

No...it is not lying....it's just speaking in a way that requires deciphering. :lamo

Barack's not the only hypocritical turncoat who voted for it and is now against "the immorality" of the wall...

Biden
Schumer
Leahy
Feinstein
Clinton
Durban

Lol, you can't make this **** up. :lamo

Charlatans, all of them!

Why didn't the GOP authorize this money when they had majorities?

That is really an excellent question.... My short answer is: Trump didn't want the money than. He wanted the issue to carry over to 2019. He thinks he can bash the democrats with this, and save his sorry ass from further investigations. Can't imagine why Trumpsters are not angry that they didn't get the wall when they could, except the obvious...they are very dumb.

What has escaped the minds of the left here is this question. “ why should we trust anything a past president who is still alive says ? “ that would be proclaiming we are empty headed.

What seems to escape your mind is "why should we trust anything the current president who always lies says?" Just saying

The headline said "...Trump's claim that they wanted a border wall is false"... which is not supported by the article. It said nothing about their support, or lack of it, for a border wall. Ad others pointed out, all four not only supported a wall in some form, but added to it.

The headline would have been more accurate if it said, "...Trump's claim that he spoke to the former presidents about the border wall is false".

Perhaps read more carefully before getting snarky.

So how do you feel about Trump lying about speaking to former presidents, headlines aside?

He lied. That's what 45 does. Those who believe him are as demented as he is

To his credit, John Kerry voted "Nay"

He'd already been bitten pretty hard because of voting for something before he voted against it :lamo
