Alabama newspaper editor calls on KKK to lynch Democrats

Not minimizing anything...But let's be real....This "paper" is most likely used as trash can liner more often than not...Circulation of 3,000? And that's your threat? :lamo

Sure, it is an exaggeration to see this as a threat for civil war, but one can certainly see the threat of local violence by some of of these 3,000 readers of the article against locals who happen to be "socialist" Democrats!

Alabama newspaper editor calls on KKK to lynch Democrats

The editor and publisher of a local paper in Alabama is under fire for penning an editorial calling for mass lynchings by the Ku Klux Klan (KKK).

The opinion piece ran in his print-only newspaper, the Democrat-Reporter, last Thursday, Goodloe Sutton confirmed on Tuesday.

He said Democrats were going to raise taxes and that the KKK should hang them and raid Washington DC.

Alabama lawmakers have called for Sutton to resign.

The KKK is one of the oldest white supremacy groups in the US, formed just after the civil war. The group was behind many of the lynchings, rapes and violent attacks on African Americans in the 1900s.

The editorial began garnering attention online after students from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, tweeted photographs of the article.

COMMENT:-

What's the big problem here? Doesn't the 1st Amendment protect "freedom of the press" and "freedom of speech"? I mean, didn't the editorial SPECIFICALLY STATE "It's not calling for the lynchings of Americans."? I mean it's not as if the editorial were calling for hangings based on race, religion, gender, physical impediment, or national origin (doing that would be illegal) - right? Besides if those left-wing, loony, liberal, socialist, pinko, commie, N***** lovin', so-called "students" hadn't made a big fuss over nothing who would have cared - right?

Alabama just took the crown away from Mississippi as the dumb-****est state in the country.

The Alabama editor (and owner) of the Democrat-Reporter has doubled down on his comments

‘I don’t care what they say’: Alabama editor who called for KKK to 'ride again,' lynch won’t back down

When asked to elaborate what he meant by "cleaning up D.C.," the 80-year-old Sutton suggested lynching, saying "we'll get the hemp ropes out, loop them over a tall limb and hang all of them."

Though locals say Sutton's offensive editorials were a known quantity in Marengo County for years, the public's reaction to his Feb. 14 editorial and subsequent comments to the Advertiser were swift and widespread. Once a lauded newspaperman, nationally acclaimed in the 1990s for his and his wife's work in bringing down a corrupt local sheriff, his peers in journalism stripped him of past commendations after his comments were published.

Good reason for Democrats to embrace the Second Amendment, for a change. If someone attempts what the newspaper editor is suggesting, I have no problem with a Democrat blowing him away.

Sounds a bit like the policy of (the now defunct) KRAB radio station. It was a "public access" station that took its commitment to provide access to ALL points of view seriously. The management would not deny airtime to any group (regardless of political stripe) and only imposed two conditions:

  1. the group's material could NOT call upon people to commit violations of the law; and
  2. SCHEDULING was the prerogative of management.

When the American Nazi party requested air time, the KRAB management agreed to it, and even provided technical assistance in the preparation of the tapes to be broadcast.

Needless to say the leadership of the American Nazi Party was ecstatic at having the free air time.

When the leadership of the American Nazi Party finally woke up and realized that their broadcasts had been scheduled between (as I recall it) "The Lesbian Sisterhood" and "The Black American News" their enthusiasm for broadcasting using the facilities of KRAB waned markably.

PS - Wouldn't it have been hilarious if the new editor showed up for work the first day wearing a long, flowing white dress (with big wrist length sleeves) and a hood?

You have a really distorted view of people who live in the south don't you? How many of these 3,000 subscribers do you envision donning the robes and attending meetings?

Pinning for Civil war there Dana...? Looking to kill those you disagree with? What a load.

If any conservative had half a set of balls, they'd look up what a lynching looks like in other countries and stop using freedom of the press/speech to defend these absurd calls to violence.

Pinning for Civil war there Dana...? Looking to kill those you disagree with? What a load.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit, is it? If someone tried to lynch me, I would shoot him. Now if you want to think that's civil war, then you are welcome to that cuckoo opinion.

Yeah, his message of hate is now a national story nationwide.

So, your attempts to minimize it are moot at this point.

So stop trying.
He's expects people to believe that if it weren't for the partisanship of the piece, a newspaper calling for the murder of thousands by the KKK would be a nothing burger

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit, is it?

I read and comprehend just fine...You?

If someone tried to lynch me, I would shoot him.

Speaking of reading, did you read the article in the OP? Apparently not. Either that, or you didn't comprehend very well....In the article, Sutton (Whom I have nothing but disdain for) said:

"If we could get the Klan to go up there and clean out DC we'd all been better off," he said. "We'll get the hemp ropes out, loop them over a tall limb and hang all of them."

"It's not calling for the lynchings of Americans. These are socialist-communists we're talking about."

So, it would seem that you are afraid that your real leanings of being a "socialist-communist" would be outed by whomever this nut job thinks would take him up on his ridiculous rally call...So, is that it Dana? are you a "socialist-communist" and his words struck a nerve?

Or, are you as he states: "Democrats in the Republican Party and Democrats are plotting to raise taxes in Alabama..."

If not then you can field strip your gun, and lock it up in the safe again, and take the bullet and put it in a different safe....Wouldn't want you to hurt yourself ;)

Now if you want to think that's civil war...

Well, what you did, in a sly kind of way was condone shooting other American's under the guise of being threatened that hooded boogeymen were coming for you...So, yeah, I think you fantasize about a civil war, even though you'd not be participating, rather cowering....But, that's just my opinion....

then you are welcome to that cuckoo opinion.

Says the guy who sports "Conservative" as his lean but to my knowledge hasn't ever posted anything close to being thought of as a Conservative ideal....

Calling supporters of the President childish names, subhuman names, makes you no better than this redneck publisher....You know that right?

Calling a Trump supporter a name is akin to advocating murder in your world?

Wow.

That's just....wow.

That's where you want to go with it...Just be truthful and say it.

I already "said it".

Its laughable that you think being called mean names is equivalent to someone calling for domestic terrorists to conduct attacks.

And given how much conservatives like to scream about other people being sensitive it is downright hysterical.

In red - So people who are different than you should be labeled as socialist-comminists and lynched? I read you loud and clear.

In blue - I read you loud and clear again, Sgt. Schultz. BTW, Hogan doesn't like you.

 Yes, I saw what you said, and I just clarified your fantasy of killing ideological opponents....Dance some more....

Uh....no, you did no such thing.

You whined passive-aggressively about being called out.

And did nothing else.

Ignorance is promoted by people of Ignorance.

Again, I say.... "This" and.....

They hey day of "white nationalism of white male dominance, is "over"... these attempt to try and hang on to the last vestiges to promote its continuance has brought out in the open, all those who have lusted for a remake of the systems that existed pre-1964. President LBJ broke the back of segregation, but he said some will hold in their hearts and minds the vile of segregationist madness, and he clearly identified whom they are.

The wealthy have used them as foot-soldiers to promote self defeating madness for centuries and decades, and they still have not figured out, their condition and status in life and economics is thrust upon them by the same wealthy and industrialist who continually use them like "well groomed pawns", to help keep taxes on the wealthy low, while the wealthy do all they can to keep wages low on the working poor and train them like a cult, to blame everything but themselves and the wealthy who control and direct them. It's been centuries of the greatest scam every played out upon and through the backing of poor whites and working poor whites... to promote the "divide mentality" for the sake of the wealthy dominating over poor whites, working poor whites, women and minorities. All while leading the right wing poor whites to push the agenda of "self defeat" all in the aim to play on their delusions about their skin color, and the want to have someone to look down upon... they will give up anything and everything and spin themselves into full economic duress, just to support an angle and delusion of having someone to look down upon.
All the while, the wealthy extend the gap of wealth far beyond the grasp of poor whites, working poor whites, women and minorities.

No one see's any of the well to do whites of liberal mindset, nor do they see any of the working poor whites of liberal mindset, pandering to protect the wealthy, and they do not support massive tax give aways to the wealthy and the industrialist.... The liberal minded whites, women and minorities stand up for "each and all" and they stand to promote the respect for and of "civil and civic equality" for any and for all, and they stand in support to promote the aims for economic opportunity to have accessibility for any and for all, to have means and access to earn and gain economic equilibrium for any and for all.

The racist and segregationist have not learned over all these centuries and decades.. that their fight is being engaged by them "against themselves" and they try and do it by and through attacks on others, with a vain hope that their white skin will give them what it has never given them.
White privilege has been of design for the wealthy whites, the delusion of white privilege among poor whites is nothing more than a fictional fantasy, because the wealthy white and well to do whites, "buy" and "back" white privilege for themselves, based on their having "money" and "political power".... They could care less about a broke and poor white, except they are useful to create a buffer of contentions between society, and the wealthy and well to do. They are like a disposable insulation to protect the wealthy whites and the well to do and the industrialist. They should have learned that truth, from the way the poor whites were used to fight the Civil War, which was of design to protect the wealthy whites, the industrialist slave holder and to ensure that the poor white remained in the 'service class" as controllable minions, who were always considered as disposable pawns.

But republicans don't vote against their own best interests. To ignorant to realize they are voting against their own best interests. Ten percent own something like ninety percent of the money in america, that's fair and that's why republicans will always support it. That and defeating the dreaded socialist liberals. Stupidity has no bounds.
