Unity requires minimal trust in the motives of others, and shared recognized truth. We don't have either of those, and I sincerely doubt we're gonna get them any time soon.

Politics is downstream of culture; we are now in the pop-celebrity Reality TV phase, where politicians are rewarded for how well they infuriate/Totally WRECK the other tribe.

This gets worse before it gets better.

One of DP's most religiously pious members has just come out in favor of voting for a child molester lest a Democrat win. Trump led the Republican party into adopting principles it never would have dreamed of considering ten years ago, and almost immediately after the Alabama governor's statement betting odds immediately pulled Moore back ahead of Jones. Leadership matters, and that leadership is pulling about 40% of our country into hell.

Ten years ago I disagreed with Republicans on nearly everything, but we did share most core humanitarian and Democratic principles, but no longer.

I've got to get back to work. This **** is super depressing.

A reporter from the New Yorker investigated the claims Moore made and found this

This morning, I corresponded with a prominent Alabama attorney who reviewed the filings in Nelson’s 1999 divorce case. Based on those filings, the attorney insisted, Moore’s claims in the open letter are “completely disingenuous.” Nelson, this attorney told me, “was never before Moore,” since the divorce was not litigated. Rather, as court documents show, the divorce was filed, continued, and then dismissed. “These are all unilateral actions by the lawyer for the plaintiff,” the attorney went on. “A lawyer for the other side never even appeared. It is doubtful that these documents were even given to Nelson.” In any case, the attorney told me, Moore, whose signature is only on the motion for dismissal—not the original filing or motion to continue—had no actual discretion over the case.

Thanks for nothing. I think that's what you've got, nothing. If you have proof the signature's a forgery and won't present it, there's only three possible reasons...
1- You're being coy, you want me to keep asking, maybe say 'please'.
2- You're pouting about something and being uncooperative just because.
3- All you have is a defense attorney calling it a fake, and you know that won't fly here.

Why do you all of suddenly want proof of anything in this case?

Is not my word just as good as the accusers?

In case you have trouble reading, the problem with the signature in the year book is that it is signed Roy Moore/DA.

The DA is put after the judges signature on legal documents when it is stamped by his assistant.

Somebody, it looks like, signed Moore's name and put the DA after it, thinking it meant District Attorney.

I saw the attorney agree to turn the yearbook over to the Senate Ethics Committee to be examined by their expert. I think that happened on Wednesday - but again I was on the road in Toronto so I could be wrong about the day.

No, the yearbook was signed Roy Moore D.A.
The divorce document was signed Roy Moore/ D.A.
The difference is obvious. The 'D.A.' on the court document is clearly in a different handwriting because it's his assistant's initials. On the yearbook, it's clearly in the same handwriting. The signatures look like the same person wrote them.
When he signed the yearbook, Moore was a DA.

Evening- With the Republican operatives and such investigating these women's lives back to the early days, anything they screwed up on would be fed to the media.
If people do not think their lives, employment and such are not being checked, they need to give their heads a shake.
Seems the only thing they can come up with is this bogus **** about a signature. Rather telling and IMHO an endorsement of the women who made allegations.

The question was addressed to a poster who has made it clear that he sees libertarians as the greatest threat to life on this planet. I was just curious as to whether he would vote for the libertarian were his guy the perv in the race, or vote for the perv to save the planet from the horrors of liberty.

No it's gross, OK! But as stated, I dismiss completely accusations without concrete evidence which would be be impossible to prove either way.

I'll take the word of a West Point graduate, Viet Nam veteran & law school graduate over someone with a dubious past whose own mother
pierced the armor of her accusations and therefore seems rather unaquainted with the truth every day of the week.

'The "we must believe the women" stuff doesn't cut it with me - they are people just like anyone else and yes, as proven, they do lie about these things on occasion. Especially when pushed to it having told a made up tale they must now perpetuate because a reporter found out about it.

You stick to your version of this matter & I'll stick to mine!
