Ii fail to see where Barr is going other than using the hearings to engage in more political hackery.

First, he should wait for the IG to complete his investigation and he should review that. If he wants to comment on what he sees in that....fine. But to engage in discussions regarding an additional investigation while the IG has not completed his investigation and worse to use the provocative Trumpet language "spying" is pretty disgusting. I credit the Senate panel for both giving Barr the opportunity to stick his foot in his mouth and prove AGAIN that he is just a political hack and I even credit them for giving Barr a chance to recover a bit in allowing him to redefine what he meant. Though Barr did it so reluctantly you can tell he was deducting points from what he thought his Trumpet merit badge totals would be for the hearing.

Barr is taking every possible opportunity to engage in political hackery which is in fact what he did around Iran/Contra years and years ago. Barr is a good dancer. I will give him that.

you fail to see where Barr is going? its obvious where Barr is going... to review whether the surveillance of the Trump administration was warranted in the first place... surely any American should be thankful for the thoroughness of our current AG.

if he says "spying" , I can't be sure but it probably is because he sees some evidence that leads him to believe there may have been some malfeasance involved. That being the case, perhaps we should let him do his job.

Not really-- for example FBI internal procedures requires evidence used to secure a FISA warrant to have been verified. That the dossier was used in the obtaining of a FISA warrant, and was not verified, yet used, seems like a reasonable avenue of investigation.
Another might be why Halper was sent to snoop around the Trump campaign wen Page was hired ie. Why not just tell the Trump campaign their concern?
