A Soybean Surge Makes Trump’s Trade War Look Deceptively Good

Whatever that means.

It means that you aren't considering the future. You only see that your path is clear one step ahead, and you are ignoring the oncoming truck that is about to hit you as you step into traffic.

I suppose conservatives think it's good news that soybean prices are going to plunge. But they probably haven't tried to make a palatable dish out of edamame.

As I've been saying for the last few weeks, one quarter GDP numbers means nothing. The plus 5% growth in a quarter in 2014 wasn't an indication of long-term growth. Likewise, as this article states, if the next quarter looks high, it may be an illusion caused by soy over-buyng.

Um, so what?

What happened? In spring the US economy was chugging along nicely, nearly full employment, GDP rising steadily, stock markets rising steadily, the strongest recovery from a recession in memory and Republicans bragging about Trump's economy, and then suddenly he has to blow it all up and start over. Suddenly the USA hasn't been the most powerful nation in the world, it's been the world's doormat, been robbed and cheated and 'treated badly', and only Trump can make it right.
Does anyone's bull**** meter pick up a signal?

Who would win in a War against the United States? Who?

PERMANENT markets have been lost for next year with soybeans to Brazil and more. China will only take pigs from big pig farms they own here. Commodity prices are way down, with China buying at extremely low rates.

Credit will be higher and more difficult to get next year, when we enter a very real TDS—trump depression syndrome. All costs continue to skyrocket for farmers, with shortages now on anhydrous ammonia, forcing us into more expensive liquid nitrogen.

Inflation is now part of the equation, and corporatists are already scaling back on Christmas. goPCs will do no better than limp into the mid-terms.

I hope these aren't predictions....

Who would win in a War against the United States? Who?
That's Grand Mal's point. Trump is crying that poor little'ol USA is being picked on by Canada, the EU and China. It's nonsense.

It's not impossible for other nations to take advantage of the generosity of the United States, in more ways than one.

Nobody obviously. But America has never been healthier economically or stronger internationally. So why the heck is Trump telling you that all the rest of the world has been taking advantage of the USA, treating you unfairly? America pretty much has it's way in the world. Like I said, " In spring the US economy was chugging along nicely, nearly full employment, GDP rising steadily, stock markets rising steadily, the strongest recovery from a recession in memory and Republicans bragging about Trump's economy, and then suddenly he has to blow it all up and start over."
You're being bull***ted. Trump's trying to create an adversary he can overcome and look like a hero, but it's all just blowing smoke up your butt.

Because there is a clear bifurcation in the labor market. Because the economic prosperity is obviously one-sided and he can appeal to the people who are getting the short end of the stick.

It's not that hard to understand. He doesn't need to look like a hero to me; he needs to look like a hero to the people who voted for him.

It's not impossible for other nations to take advantage of the generosity of the United States, in more ways than one.

The US is generous to countries that are in poverty, but you're not known for generosity in matters of trade. Americans are known to be pretty sharp traders, canny businessmen.
When Trump tells you you've been taken advantage of, he's selling snake oil.

What do you think of China violating U.S. patent laws?

Point out some of this "real damage". You can't. You just don't like President Trump. and, you consistently hope that America fails.

Let's see, he is alienating every of our military allies.
He has started trade wars with every major trade partner of the US.
He has damaged ACA but has not replaced it with something better.
He has not gotten control on immigration and seems to be clueless as to how.
He has not brought companies back to the US, in fact he and his family use foreign laber on a regular basis.
He said he was going to get the infrastructure issues dealt with, not a peep since last year.
He said he was going to get us out of the long wars we have been fighting for decades, he actually sent more troops.
He has supported and praised the leaders of Nations that are and have been traditional enemies of the US while berating our closest allies.
He has acted as a spoiled child by attacking anyone that dares question anything he says or does and does so both on the airwaves but also through social media.
He has attacked every US intelligence agency thus reducing their effectiveness.
He has lied so many times few other than his loyal fans believe anything he says, demeaning the Office and the US.
He signed a tax cut that will result in huge deficits and cuts to programs that help US citizens, but rewards himself and the rich.
He has removed environmental safeguards that will result in more pollution along with the damages to people's health.
He has divided Americans far farther apart than any President in modern times.
Oh and every time he speaks he embarrasses this Nation with his child like speech and verbage.
That is just a few, the list goes on and on and there are sure to be more. He may very well be the death of the USA.

I saw the prosperity that Reagan brought through the 80's and into the 90's...no economy lasts forever, but getting more people to work is always a good thing. Lowering taxes on businesses and working people is always a good thing. barry printed trillions of dollars for 8 years...not a good basis for an economy. Record numbers on welfare isn't good for an economy as Pelosi once said. Conservatives are far better on the economy than are lefters.

yes, I can tell the trees are pretty thick over there near that forest ..........

The last thing soybean farmers are happy with is trump’s tariffs, as China buys up currently cheap soybeans at a loss to these farmers.

What soybean farmers already know is that they’ve lost PERMANENT soybean markets to Brazil and others, starting next year.

None of that is factual. It's your point of view. REAL American's know the truth.

Excellent and concise recap. And as you said, just the tip of the trump iceberg heading for the USS Titanic 10.0

You have no idea what a real American is or you would know your boy is unfit for the job.

Trade wars don't put more people to work, though. Even when you import more than you export, you are still producing more (thus employing more workers) than you would otherwise.

yes, I know about all that; Trump supporters however do not keep up with 'ag' like I keep up with 'ag' ..............
