7 killed, 46 wounded in Chicago weekend shootings

As I pointed out, 1) the murder rate has been on the decline... 2) 24 other cities, each with nice and each with rough neighborhoods have higher murder rates (with St Louis having a murder rate 4X that of Chicago). So, if you have a particular point to make in trying to illustrate Chicago as some type of exceptional city, kindly make it with facts, as stated facts are telling us otherwise. Your perception on this matter is interesting, but not objective and therefore moot.

The other thing of absurdity in comparing Chicago murders to mass shootings, much of the Chicago murder problem is gang-related. It is far less a threat to the average person than the mass shooting, which is often carried out in nicer neighborhoods involving victims with no connection what so ever to the assailant. Bring up the Chicago, in the context herein, is a pathetically feeble (actually, it is both pathetic and feeble) attempt to deflect from a substantive issue.
I dont think anyone is comparing the Chicago day to day murders to mass shootings. What they are pointing out is that zero ****s are given to he day to day violence...and we know that and expect that because in order to address the problem that is leaving black Americas dead in the street you have to attack the perpetrators...and anytime you address the perpetrators hat commit the majority of violent crimes and murder in this country...wellll....

thats racist. Cant have that.

Of course they are covertly comparing this to the mass shooting. Its an orchestrated deflection. Look at the date of OP. It is Monday morning. The murders on people's minds on Monday morning were the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, not gang violence in American cities. Right after Parkland, Fox was quick to want to talk about Chicago, then it appeared here.

Guess what, Fox wanted to talk about Chicago on Monday morning as well, because they are trying to take the heat of Trump and the Republican congress. It is a deflection.

...and, of course, this absurd fetish they have with Chicago.... its 25th in murders, not 1st. Chicago is simply their placeholder for Democratic administered city. Its a Fox whipping boy. If they were really worried about violence in our cities, they would be talking about St Louis, where the murder rate is 4X that of Chicago, and unlike Chicago, is trending in the wrong direction. Yes, have a good discussion about violence in our cities, but don't start it the day after 28 people were killed in yet another mass shooting, and then complain that the press isn't giving it attention. How disingenuous and/or ignorant is that?

No, this entire thread is an exercise in disingenuous, likely perpetrated by someone that watches too much Fox. This is the kind of s**t that is making America not-so-great, a major "news" organization throwing head fakes to their viewers to ensure they remain ignorant and malleable.

Are you kidding me? How are you able to start a BN/MSM thread about what the media is silent about?

This has to be the most moronic post premise possible - posting as proof of alleged media silence a media story about the matter allegedly never reported.
The MSM isn't totally silent on the carnage in Chicago but it certainly is muted. Just compare the El Paso and Dayton shootings airtime verses the Chicago shootings airtime and the difference is not even close.

Decades of murder and carnage has been reduced to an “absurd fetish” and “disingenuous”.

My you Leftists... really care about the people and mayhem the decades of mismanagement Leftists have wrought upon cities across the country.

Well, at least you didn’t laugh at the murder, maiming and disarray as other Leftists have.

The fetish is with Chicago, when there are multiple other cities with a much worse problem. Why are you not outraged at St. Louis where the murder rate is 4X that of Chicago?

If you interest were truly about urban murders, it seems to me (and dare I say probably substantially all of the readers of the post), you would be critical of the worst case, not the 25th worst case. Sorry, but an irrational obsession is a fetish. I get it that it more of a Fox News fetish and you are just one the minions that watch that stuff. Have a bit more discernment please or otherwise please explain why Chicago and not St Louis as it makes no sense, except for the reasons I articulated.

And, we are back to my point, this entire thing is a Fox News deflection that they seem to roll out every time the President is on the ropes not knowing how to respond to a mass shooting. I again invite you to read the dates of the Fox News story; Monday morning. You either bought this nonsense or are a part of tool in perpetuating it, but it fundamentally is nonsense.

yes, we have a violence in our inner cities; we have gang problems. We have had them for decades and we will for time to come. But it is trending down. Good people are working at this issue, and we have had discernible results.

Mass shootings, which have victims completely innocent to the perpetrator, however, are trending up. No one is working this issue. I find it intellectually offensive that people would try to detract from a big issue with this kind of thing as this kind of time. Yes, crime in our cities is a worthy conversation, but not to detract for the issue of mass shootings.
