The violence has it's roots in the divestment of communities that were once were thriving working class neighborhoods. That began in the late 70's. Factories close down and there go the jobs. People become desperate. Most of these shootings here now are retaliatory revenge for other shootings. These communities need investment which brings opportunity. Investors focus on the North side white communities. Lincoln park, Wicker park, Wrigley Ville and Lincoln Square. It's going to take entrepreneurs with vision to invest in Englewood and Roseland. Hyde Park, Bronzeville and Beverly are thriving.

Democrat policies.

Newark, N.J., hasn't had a GOP mayor in more than a century. It was ranked as the fifth-worst city to live in in 2015. Detroit, of course, was first.
