Quarantine the infectious

Would you be okay with getting locked up for 14 days if it stopped the virus in two week's time?

This is anecdotal, watching TV. The SKs seem to be pretty tidy people on the best of days, glove, gown, mask when prepping foods like Kimchee. Around here, you see people coughing over food without thinking twice about it. Of course those may be the exception.

Wearing a mask when you are sick is common across east Asia.

Where are 500 million test kits coming from? How is testing to be enforced? How will this work in the Barrios and Ghettos? And of course deal with the anti-vaxers, their lawyers and the constitutionalist who say forced testing is a dictatorial exercise of police powers and their lawyers? How often will everyone be tested?

We have 330,000,000 citizens. Why would we need 500,000,000 tests?

FFS, what did I just watch?

One very ridiculous SNL song parody. It could have worse. I have another song celebrating the sexual accomplishments of sex with mountain goats in Scotland, sung in Korean.

Fun fact, just because you don't have the virus now doesn't mean you never will.

500 mil for the first 10 days, and then many more. Tourists and business people passing through, diplomats, etc. And optimally testing should be repeated on at least a weekly basis. The INS can't keep track of illegal aliens, how will anyone keep track of testing illegal aliens? And what about UFO's?

So in Korea, Taiwan and Singapore, if you were found to have a fever, the government would quarantine you for 14 days. No physical contact with another human.

This combined with self distancing like we do in America effectively stopped the virus in its tracks. Korea, Taiwan and Singapore are virus free.

Would you be okay with getting locked up for 14 days if it stopped the virus in two week's time? If you were infected?

If I was sick and showing symptoms of corona I would not only be ok with being locked up, I would do it myself voluntarily. Like any other decent human being would.

It doesn't make sense. No other country in the world had that many tests, that were reasonably accurate.

China's test kits were ****ed up. The WHO's tests were ****ed up. The CDC's test were ****ed up. But, ROK nailed it? When no one else could? Things that make you go Hmmmm!

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that ROK's stats are bull****.

Just maybe the person who told you all those tests were ****ed up wasn't altogether honest.

Yeeehaw! Screw them regya-layshuns! Gimme liberty or gimme a horrible, painful death! FREEDUMB!! :elephantf :2usflag:
Yes, it's people like you that make everything a joke that results in epic fail situations like we're seeing in New York. They sure showed Trump!

You don't test everyone. Just the infected and those they come in contact with. That's what Korea did.

People have to be tested first to ID infection.
The idiot Trump administration and the FED can’t get testing to all who need it.
In addition, labs are way behind in reading results of given tests.
You can’t lock up those you can’t identify.

You don't have to test everyone.

Test those that appear sick. Then test those in direct contact, then test those in direct contact with those infected. If you run out of tests quarantine those in direct contact with the infected. Ensure they stay home set up delivery of groceries so they do not have to leave home.

The sick and or potentially sick are away from nom sick ( hopefully), they have food coming ( paid by the government) so they do not have to leave.

As a result potential infection opportunities are reduced and covid 19 could get under control

We did not have to rely on CDC tests. They chose to rely on them. They could have just as easily used the WHO tests as a blueprint as other countries opted to do.
Why double-down on stupid?

The countries that were able to get tests up and running quickly got government out of the way and put the private sector to work immediately. It was only after we finally did that that we were able to ramp up testing.

I didn’t mean everyone at all.
Sorry for not being more succinct.
Testing should be done based upon a medical reference due to potential symptoms, or for those who are high risk.

Everybody's healthcare system but yours is better regulated. And more systematic too!
Yes. "Better" as in "less."

We have, to name a few...

CMS regulations
CDC regulations
FDA regulations
State public health department regulations
Provider licensing board regulations
Insurance commisioner regulations
Local county regulations
City regulations
AMA regulations
Joint commission regulations...

Your country's death rate is 3x higher than ours. How's that gubmint healthcare working out for you?

:lamo...you folks just aren't happy with the way this going.

You folks have no clue, but unthinkingly bleat the fake message anyway. What specifically was wrong with the WHO test? In your own words....

Forget NYC, take a good look at New Orleans.

Now think about what you just said. Population of NYC 8.623 mil, not inclusive of temporary tourist population and millions passing through to other destinations, nor commuters from suburbia. Corona infection cases in NYC 38k, deaths attributed to the infection less than 2,200. Less than .05% of the population infected, less than .004% of the population dead. How is this epic?

No doubt the hyperbole of the media and partisan politics belies your ranting.

Right, because anything you don't like is "fake news". :lamo

They were junk. How's that?

North Korea, where starving people eat grass, had and has money for testing? South Korea which admitted having less than 1k testing kits tested just the infected and their contacts?

Not even bothering to question how the testing of the obviously infected protects anyone else.

So... you don't know how they were able to do so much testing. Got it.
They were able to test extensively because they were prepared.

Again: The private sector had a role... to provide what the government ordered. The private sector was not in any way in charge.
