There are currently 9 states which ban gay conversion therapy on minors as of 6/9/17. There are also 19 other cities including DC banning conversion therapy.

There are also pending bills in Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin this year.

As of May 17, 2017, the bill in Delaware passed the state Senate and awaits consideration in the House of Representatives. As of May 30, 2017, the bill in Rhode Island passed the state House and awaits consideration in the Senate.

I don't believe "conversion therapy" has any validity, and should be condemned by all Medical, Psychological, and Psychiatric Associations as damaging to the mental health of children.

It is more of a salve to parental disappointment and disgust with their own children's natural development in a way they either personally abhor or believe their religion condemns.

Yes it should be banned, not only for children, but as a general mental health practice.

Normal counseling techniques are sufficient IMO to address the mental health issues of persons dealing with this issue, if and only if the individual opts to seek such counseling.

It's not therapy and it doesn't "convert" Ban it completely.

Being gay is not a medical (psychological) ailment or dysfunction.

That makes "Conversion therapy" voodoo science.

These all sound like the negative effects associated with homosexuality itself.

For children, I don't have a problem with banning it. For adults, no. You cannot ban stupid decisions.

Off hand it seems to be a misdirection of the sex drive.

No big deal but stopping adults from seeking treatment for themselves seem wrong.
