Are You Boycotting Star Wars?

Loved it when I was young, but I lost most of my interest when the overhauled the originals, particularly the whole "Han shot first" thing.

Never got past it enough to enjoy the prequels.

Also, in #7 there's a massive big plot hole where there's a fully functioning starship is sitting unnoticed on a planet-size junk yard full of desperate tech scavengers.

And they lose a percentage of the male market by going for the woman/feminist audience. When Hollywood discovered this little fact all they did however was call the men that left them behind sexist like somehow that was going to fix the problem.

That is true. Why they can't just make good movies and anyone who wants to see good movies can go to the theater is beyond me. Instead, they have to engage in endless identity politics which pisses anyone but the idiot left off.

TFA had some really massive plot problems. It's a decent enough movie but the one thing it absolutely is not is Star Wars.

Star Wars is feminist? Idk, I've always loved the Princess Laia (is that how you spell it?) outfit she wears when she's in Jabba's lair. Any girl who wears that usually ends up looking hot.

Not anymore.

Not anymore.

If you Google "slave leia" you'll get tons of whining about how sexist and objectifying it is that Lucas dared to put that on screen. Whine, whine, whine.

From a marketing standpoint, they already have the male market, they're trying to get the female market too, especially the young female market that is hugely radical feminist. But from a personal standpoint, Hollywood is ridiculously liberal and hence, ridiculously feminist. So that's how they think, not about making good movies, but about having a leftist perspective.

Sounds like good, old fashioned, AMERICAN, business strategy. LOL! From the reported sales I don't believe is working.

I bet you get "a lot of whining" no matter what you google. I thought she was hot in that movie too. Sex sells.

True, but you couldn't get something like that today because of all of the idiots and their identity politics. I thought she was fine too, she was actually a very strong female character in a very dangerous situation and didn't rely on some guy to come along and save her. But, you know, you can see skin and the left hates that.

Saw Rogue One last night, and it was freaking awesome. Like, Empire good.

I don't understand your logic. Usually "the Hollywood Liberals" are vilified for showing too much skin not to mention the porn industry. Most R rated movies have some T & A in them.

Saw Rogue One Friday night, loved it, and I'm sitting here right now eating my Vader toast for breakfast made with my Darth Vader Toaster. (True Story)

Only 361 more sleeps until Episode VIII is released.

Life is beautiful.

Darth Vader toast is the only kind of toast one should eat.

Also, Darth Vader sure did toast those guys in the last minute! Holy ****, that was awesome. I could watch that scene over and over.

We're talking Hollywood regressives here, the people who cannot see anything but sex and race in everything that happens and just wants to cry and complain when people don't cater to their identity politics. Instead of just making good movies, these people want to make movies that push their identity political position. And then when anyone points it out, they scream racist and sexist and misogynist at anyone who notices what they're doing and doesn't agree with it.

Um, it totally is Star Wars. It's like, in the title, and it's basically New Hope.

It rips off a lot from Star Wars, but it isn't Star Wars. It's a very different kind of movie.

Do you have something specific? I don't go to the movies much but I watch way too many on TV. Took me 3 years before I watched No Country for Old Men but I finally did and loved it in a dark sort of way.

They slapped TFA together Abram's style, of course it had holes in the plot. How long was it, 6-8 weeks or something? It's mass market geek writing/directing. Its not deep, it's not going to be classic, it won't be a cult classic. It's big name money making in this case. He is a success from a business perspective, not from an art perspective IMO.

I'll watch it, just because it's a full sci fi universe, not because it's "Star Wars", and certainly not to spite Trump, good grief. To think Trump would affect my [anything] habits.

It has lightsabers, it has the force, it has an evil empire, bad guy in a mask, the Jedi, hell it's freaking named Star Wars. It's a Star Wars movie, period. It's ridiculous to say otherwise.

I didn't see the Ghostbusters remake, but I heard it was absurdly feminist. Did you see it? People pointed out that the main 4 characters in the original film were men, yet they used an all female cast for the remake.

I'm amazed no one picked up on the fact that it took a film written by a man, then rewritten by a man, and originally starring 4 male lead characters, to provide this brilliant vehicle for feminism in 2016. :lamo

If they were thinking, they wouldn't fall for the radical feminist crap in the first place.
Part of me wonders why it would/should make a difference. I know many women who already like the franchise even before the 'feminist' turn. Lack of women characters didn't keep them away. On the other hand, if you're not a fan of that type of genre to begin with, why would a new feminist slant attract you? Makes no sense to me why it's even necessary.

That being said, I really don't care about the feminist angle. Unless the story lines and/or acting get really dumb I'm going to watch them regardless.

Trumpers to people protesting over possibly losing rights: "Stop whining and get on with it"

Trumpers when somebody says something mean about Donald Trump "Let's boycott"

Apparently, many Trumpettes are boycotting Star Wars. Mostly because a writer or two had the temerity to criticize Trump. So Trump people, are you boycotting Star Wars?

Not boycotting, but also not planning on going to see it. Reviews show it to be simple-minded nonsense, with a terrible script and weak special affects. Also, to be perfectly frank, I am not at all interested in seeing another generation of Star Wars flicks. I didn't much like the last batch. I think I reached my limit after the second movie.

There were only 4 speaking roles for women in the first three films. That disparity had to change at some point. If it's a radical feminist move to have a wide range of female characters in art, then count me in. Their presence is not tokenism, it makes the world the artist is trying to create better.

Right? As long as it has a good story, I don't see any reason to not see it.

But you must dress up when you're at home, right? Which Star Wars cat do you dress like when no one's looking? Btw I'm not mocking.

Apart from themed parties etc, (which are a lot of fun), I kinda grew out of the dress up stage when I was no longer a youngling
