Nearly half of the U.S.’s homeless people live in one state: California - MarketWatch

I'm finally beginning to see the liberal light. I now understand that this is what liberals want - non workers mooching off of the federal government, living in a generational cycle of poverty where they can't even afford housing of any kind. And, open the borders to more illegals so they can join the crowd. If liberals wanted to fix the problem they could fix it at the state level but they won't because this is the way they want it and then blame it on the feds and on Trump and the Republicans.

Or perhaps the other state bus their homeless to California, to get rid of their problem and make it California's

Personally I think California should give each homeless person a bus ticket, and $200 to move to Kansas. The $200 can only be accessed 2 weeks after being in Kansas.

20% of the US homeless are Veterans.

California sure made a mess of this one.

Southpark?

Good weather for being homeless, sadly, and incredibly high cost of housing due to that weather and large desirable city markets. Why aren't they all jammed up in fly over states? I wonder.

With all the issues we have nationally, why is Trump harping about California on state issues anyway. All red meat for the base...blah blah hate California, yuck yuck, the base loves it.

It is a hoot when Trumpsters come here weekly and try to make California out to be a 3rd world country... lol They have what? The 5th or so largest economy in the world.

And what do the Trumpster Republicans have? Mississippi which is 50th in everything in the US and does mooch Fed money... If it wasn't for their mooching off of California and NY, etc. Mississippi and many other red states would be a 3rd world countries...

If they really cared about the homeless, they wouldn’t be making this a partisan issue. About 25% of all homeless in California are Veterans. All they have is division, not solutions.

If Newsom would stay home in CA and seriously work on the pee, poop, drugs and homelessness in the state, it would be great. Instead he's flitting about playing world leader and basically inviting more "visitors" to cross our border.

The rate of homelessness (per 100,000) is highest in DC, twice what it is anywhere else, followed in order by New York, Hawaii, Oregon and then California.
Any idiot knows that comparing raw numbers is a stupid way to use statistics.

Republicans don't give a rats ass about Vets. They just use them as pawns. Unfortunately the poorly educated Republican base believes the GOP lies.

Since many of the homeless are veterans, it's good to have you on record spitting on them so at least we can all see the person you are.

Search ‘old Silver Cross Hospital’ in Joliet, IL if you get a chance. It’s a decommissioned hospital that was used to help homeless Vets. I just found some great new stuff they’re doing with that land.

These efforts to take care of homeless Vets can easily be applied to homeless civilians, but it’s a long road back to normalcy for all the homeless.

Decommissioned Military installations also have great promise, if we could only get that infrastructure going.

"California had about 134,000 homeless individuals, which represented about 24 percent of the total homeless population in the nation”

That is a well known thing, busing homeless out to Cali...and surprisingly, New York is one of the biggest offenders, not some red state, although plenty of red states DO it as well. New York just does it more.

And Mod Right has seen the information, he just finds it inconvenient. Never mind that it doesn't even make a lick of sense, because liberals actually want as many taxpayers as they can get, not "as many poor people as they can get".
More taxpayers would result in more services, more benefits.

Like I said, it is information he has seen, but it conflicts with his troll-bait threads.

I’m going to be much more nuanced here, say like Condi Rice, since this one hits real close to home. I’ll never forget what my older friends went through when they got back from Vietnam. As well, my Dad served 30 years and he’s now at ALNC.

I do reports and stuff for our American Legion and just did one on Veteran’s Issues. It was tough stuff for them to hear. Besides the warfare, which is obviously a huge thing, I don’t see a difference between between a homeless Vet and a homeless Civilian. They’re both homeless. How do we fix this?

They take the same Meds; they have the same substance abuse problems; they have the same depression issues. Once we are successful transitioning homeless Vets back into Society, we can do the same for our homeless Civilians. Decommissioned Hospitals and Military Installations are a good start.

Forget the trip to El Salvador

The article makes no sense. El Salvador is where a great many illegals are coming from, so it makes perfect sense for the governor to go there, in an effort to get a better handle on WHY THEY ARE LEAVING El Salvador.
Newsom wants specifics, so that specific solutions can be arrived at.

The NAME of the country, El Salvador, means "salvation" (or "saviour") in Catalan, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Obviously there ISN'T very much "salvation" in the land of El Salvador, and perhaps if Newsom can arrive at solutions, maybe El Salvador can manage to keep more people home.

PS: Trump thinks he's helping?

Trump deserves sharp pokes after announcing Saturday that he’s cutting off roughly $500 million in aid to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, claiming they’re not doing enough to stem migration.

Excuse me, but how the holy **** does CUTTING OFF aid help?
Search me, because it sure as Hell seems like Trump wants EVEN MORE Salvadorans streaming across our border, so his buddies who own all those private prisons can warehouse them for extra $$$.

How does one do that? Well, cutting off a half billion in aid is a great start!

Larger cities of course can support higher levels of homeless. With more places to seek cover, more resources to be able to live. Combine the busing and California's weather and a perfect storm occurs. Heck the entire west coast of the US has the right conditions to be able to have a high homeless population. While being homeless in say Chicago could result in freezing to death in the winter, or being homeless in Nevada, dying from the heat.

I expect that NYC does it more to California, because they are getting a lot bussed in from other places as well.

I moved from Bethesda, Maryland to Minneapolis in the 1970's as a very young guy.
First time I ever saw a human being who had literally frozen to death: November 1978, Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis.

Homeless had a neat trick up there back then, probably still in practice one way or another today. As winter approaches, either get the hell out of the Twin Cities and head for warmer climes, "find religion" and join one of the missions, or throw a brick through a shop window and cause enough mayhem to earn a slot in the city jail for three months, which of course equals 3 hots and a cot for the winter.

Have conservatives solved the homeless problem in their states?

What percentage go to CA because of the weather?

CA also has the highest population of US states....

You know what I love about you, Linc? At least half of the time I run into your posts, I see you proposing actual solutions to problems where everyone else is merely arguing over who's responsible for the problem in the first place.

Thank you for taking the time to try and educate our sorry partisan asses.

If you were homeless what state would you want to live in? You would want to live somewhere warm with lots of rich people for begging.

Leftists are in the process of fashioning Kalifornia into a socialistic paradise. Can't you tell? :)

This is what socialism is. You have the elites, and skid row. The middle class are fleeing the state, or being taxed into poverty.

Just because they are in Cali doesn't mean Cali caused it. People who are homeless tend to go where it is warm. And near the ocean. Or where they think they can find work.
