The complication is that one side is using the government shutdown as leverage to get what it wants. That is not normal and it should never be normalized.

No, actually is an excellent post, right on target. The funding of the government is Congress' responsibility, regardless of what the President said. You folks have never believed anything he has said before, yet now that obviously incorrect claim of ownership of the shutdown is a sacrosanct truth in your eyes. You are wrong, just as Trump was wrong when he claimed it.

Try and get this, it stopped being about the wall a while ago, this is about Twumpy shutting down the government.
Nothing happens till it reopens, you can cry, whine, call people names, launch personal attacks, fabricate straw men, move the goalposts, or anything else but just understand this one thing:

REOPEN the government or die on that hill. So much damage has already been done that the people this affected don't have anything left to lose, as evidenced by all those absent TSA workers, many of which have already found new jobs.

This is about the shutdown now.
You don't have anything left to negotiate with anymore.

And get this, too: Pretty soon some of your hardcore base are going to start getting hurt very badly too.
They will turn on Twumpy so fast it will make his head spin, and Mitchy is already doomed as well.
Billboards calling for his head on a plate are turning up in KY, would you like to see one or two?

I voted for Trump because he said Mexico would pay, not "the wall pays for itself." I was chanting at those rallies. That man is a l-i-a-r

You apparently think a compromise is made when one party makes a proposal with no input from the other party. That is not how it works. What do you think Trump given up in his latest one-sided proposal/hostage demands ? He needs to sign a clean bill to reopen the Govt. if he really wants a compromise. I don't think he does.

The majority of folks don’t want to pay for the wall and she is doing what the majority of the country wants. It’s you cons that are wanting everything and rubber stamping whatever your false god trump. Well like the temper tantrum baby trump is, you’ll soon learn the same lesson you don’t always get what you want. The people are behind the Dems on this one and trump and the gop are to blame.

We are living in stranger times my friend. This is a deal that was avail a year ago for a more expensive price. We won't get the government open without some kind of deal.

From what I have witnessed the last couple of days, Democrats have been coming forth and said Trump's proposal is something there should be debate over because it has so much of what they have wanted. Also the Washington Post of all publications had an article yesterday that encouraged Democrats to take the deal. So we shall see.

A 3 year temp reprieve on DACA (which was due to trumps actions) is not so much of what they wanted.

I can't figure out if you are stupid or ignorant, but you are clearly confused about what the people want. You elected Trump with his promise to build a wall and secure the southern border. That is what is is doing. All the dems wanted the exact same thing, yet now don't have the backbone to do what the people want.

There are 800,000 superfluous federal employees who need to find a real job. Nothing more. Thanks to Trump those jobs are out there now by the millions. It is truly a great day thanks to Trump. God bless Trump.
