Here we go again, Trump is on TV fomenting hatred of brown people

Do you accept facts from Fox News?

How Fox always manages to get into these things is a mystery. Let's look at it this way, If Fox says that the subject is "illegal" immigrants, would that mean that they aren't really illegal?

Does that justify taking children from their parents?

Well, there is a large amount of kids that were sent on their own on a perilous journey by their parents to commit a crime. So I guess the parents weren't that concerned about the separation.

There are constant asides - usually emotional - that offer no solutions, only attacks on the actions of the President or, more recently ICE Agents. But the basic issue is - shall we or shall we not have national borders? If the answer is "we shall" how do we deal with the annual migration of people illegally entering our nation?

So you're saying that illegal immigrants have to have already been convicted of a crime in the US before we can crack down on illegal immigration.

No, didn't say that.

Well it is about time these illegals stop getting special treatment over US citizens. Does the average black teenager "a citizen of this country" get the same above the law treatment you want to give these illegal aliens? Hell no.

False equivalency.

Comparing a person fleeing persecution and/or poverty to protect their children cannot be compared to someone committing a petty theft, which would normally result in probation for a first time offender and you can't give someone who is deported probation.

No, it does look like you're trying to excuse and dismiss the crimes of illegal immigrants and trying to claim that's not an issue. There is no truth to the idea that the crimes and injuries caused by illegal immigrants are not an important issue. It's one big reason why we need to get control of the border, and it's completely legitimate for the President to bring that up.

It's one thing to bring it up, but the reason he is doing it -- to dehumanize and thus foment hatred of brown people in order to garner sympathy for his cruel and inhumane treatment of them, is altogether another.

And no, I"m not trying to excuse and dismiss crimes committed by undocumented immigrants and you won't find anything written by me that says it or implies it. The general issue of securing the border is another issue

Mostly BS. This "just because they're brown" nonsense just clouding the issue. The basic FACT is they should not be here. PERIOD. The mindlessness of the left never fails to astound me.

They should not be here? ... Wrong... They are protected by domestic legislation and international law which the US has agreed to abide by.... Irrespective of status, people have the right to apply for asylum... If denied, THEN, you can argue they should not be here... But Trump was preventing them from doing so, and still may be... It is not the left that is mindless, but Trump. He has not attacked white visa overstayers from Canada or Europe, but focused on brown people, Mexican rapists, etc.

no. that is NOT what was posted
read it again and figure it out - IF you want to be honest in this debate

your misrepresentation underscores why it is so easy for alt-right media to sway the uneducated

Barnacle has a bad habit of asking questions with assumed premises.

Again, what exactly does this statement mean:

"Illegal immigrant crime is a quarter of the level in the general population."

I believe Manc Skipper could have articulated it more accurately as:

'The level of illegal immigrant crime is a quarter less than that of the general population'.

I believe that is what he is trying to say ( if, indeed, Manc Skipper is a 'he' ).

Democrats will do absolutely nothing to stop illegal immigrants from coming into our country. Someone has to have the balls to actually do something.

Obama deported 5,281,115 undocumented persons.

Stopping immigrants from crossing is like fighting crime. You'll never stop it completely, but you can put a dent in it, and that has been achieved by Obama.

so, it seems your sentiment is not rooted in reality, but bias towards liberals.

And, what would equal "having the balls to do something?" Build a wall? (no, half of them are visa overstays, and since the wall cannot cover the entire 2000 mile border, the Achilles heel phenomenon would occur, defeating the reason to build it, noting that it would cost many billions, billions which Trump lied about by saying Mexico will pay for it, billions that could used for infrastructure, which would be money much better spent).

It's one thing to have courage, but being a courageous fool is another.

I fully support asylum and legal immigration. By people of any color. I do not support getting to stay just because you managed to get across the border. We have processes and procedures in place to deal with legal immigration and asylum, they should be followed.

Right. You have to apply at legal ports of entry. These people were trying to sneak in, got caught, and then claimed asylum.

Deportation counts mean little. For example: Jose illegally crossed into the US four times, and Jose was counted as deported three times, yet Jose is still here.

There have been many reports over the years of illegals being coached on the right things to say and do if they're caught. I'm sure asking for asylum was one of the them.

However, when the number of five frickin' million, your point is rather hollow.

Oh yeah, "I have heard....." "There have been reports....." very Trumpian of you to spread innuendo--- jeezus you people are a trip.

Or maybe they were actually fleeing persecution, and got advice on how not to blow it when they are confronting gov people bent on tripping them up so they can't get asylum.

Your cynicism is noted.

As is your Pollyanna-ism. It would seem to me that if their getting advice it might entail seeking asylum the correct way, e.g. reporting to port of entry and asking for it. Here in San Diego we just had a large caravan of people do exactly that and they were processed correctly. I'm not doubting there are some legitimate asylum seekers amongst the illegals, BTW.

As is your Pollyanna-ism. .

Viewing the opposite of cynicism as pollyanna-ism is, itself, cynicism, given that the opposite of cynicism is not pollyanna-ism, but, as a cynic, yourself, you will never grasp it, you will view reality through the lens of a cynic.

A dash of cynicism is okay, but like too much of a particular medicine, it becomes poison.

Bullseye.

Your "I dont doubt some are legitimate" reminds me of Trump's "and some, I suppose, are good people".

You people just can't keep your hands out of the cynic's cookie jar.

Nope, we often see news stories of folks still here (mainly criminals) that had been deported multiple times. 5M deported for the year yet 12M are still here. Those deportation (atta boy?) stats might seem a bit better if the total still here went down.

This idea that each and every one of those 5 million crossed 4 or 5 times is bullcrap. So the number is 4.5 million factoring in a few triple crossers.

Give me a break.

Moreover, deportations are so high that there is a labor shortage, particularly in farming, in America. Your fears are unfounded and causing problems in America that hitherto did not exist.

LOL, "you people", eh? Sounds vaguely cynical.

You do know that a lot of petty theft is because people are hungry.

As far as running to this country with your tail between your legs that does not fly with me. I joined the military and was willing to fight and die for freedom here as well as all around the world. A lot of my family were in the military and are still in the military fighting for people all over the world. We have our freedom here because we are willing to fight and die for it. They need to figure out that freedom isn't free.
