Greg Gianforte vs Rob Quist

I think GOP will secure this despite the recent news on Greg. Around 70% of the votes have already been cast via mail in ballots... so before that news even broke.

Pulling for Quist if only to increase the number of banjo players in Congress.

Can't have enough of them. I'm hoping Steve Martin throws his hat into a race.

Without WWEgate, I fear you are correct. But, Gianforte's actions created a ton of righteous anger. If people were already looking for a reason not to vote for him, they found it.

Quist is gonna win it. The media went all in to defend one of their own.

I think body slamming a liberal reporter should probably bump him (up) about 5%.

Don't have a clue who is going to win, left my crystal ball in the trunk of my car.

But I did see this tweet....

Peter Alexander

@PeterAlexander
NEW: Source close to Gianforte campaign says it's raised $100K+ online in last 24 hours -- most of it coming after reporter "body slam."

Yeah, but 5% out of the remaining 30%, would be equivalent to getting 15% overall. In less than one day! That's a tough lift.

I don't see it.

But I'd like to be surprised.

Edit: Whoops! Misread your post!

If he "Is tired of questions" Maybe U.S. Congress is not the place for him. It should diminish his standing from a reasonable perspective. If he can't handle reporters as a candidate, he won't be able to handle them as a rep.

30 minutes until the polls close.

This is a real nail biter. lol

Winner take all steel cage match on the Senate floor would boost CSPAN ratings.

Have it as the undercard for the "Rumbler with the Bumbeler" aka Trumps State of the Union

It will be interesting to see who wins tonight glad I don't have to choose

Im sure with his base it will. Authoritarians love such behavior.

It's going to go back and forth for a little while.. 15% reporting so far.

Missoula hasn't come in yet.

Yellowstone, Quist is pretty far back.

I was unaware there's a libertarian running too. Could be a spoiler.

This should be interesting. I predict the thug gets reelected, and then has to cop a plea on assault. No way can a Bernie Progressive Dem win in MT. The only question in my mind--how close will this be?

Quist's way below his benchmarks even with the early vote. It would take the Gianforte incident having an absolutely huge impact on today's results for Quist to win it.

Thing is, he's never been elected; he can't get reelected in this case.

If Ryan and house GOP had any sort of moral compass, if he wins he'd refuse to seat him.

I disagree. Red state people hate neoliberal Dems. However Bernie's message of economic inequality resonates in blue collar states.

The race is tightening...

Rob Quist (Democratic) 48.4% 72,030
Greg Gianforte (Republican) 46.1% 68,705
Mark Wicks (Libertarian) 5.5% 8,205

18% Precincts Reporting, 148,940 Total Votes

Yellowstone county is a bad trend. Gianforte only won it by 500 votes for governor .

CNN is reporting there's been a fair amount voters out against the reporter in the incident.

A lot of animosity towards CNN's presence, too. I'd expect nothing less in Trump country.

Like I said earlier, the GOP base loves authoritarianism and beating up reporters fits right into that wheelhouse.

I don't see a path for Quist to win.
