I’m Not a Doctor

Possibly because several MDs and other experts have reported positive results? Or maybe because FDA issued an emergency clearance to use it.

Nah, it's just to piss off you Trumpophobes.

trumpophobes, eh? are you down with Dr. Fauci not being able to answer appropriate questions because of deranged temper tantrum trump —

I’ll have links showing three of the companies making HCQ, who they campaign donate to, and which gops insider traded to buy up the stock before trump started pumping it —

Not really sure what has the idiot left spun up on this the most...the fact that hydroxychloroquine appears to be effective in treating the virus, or that Trump, based on NUMEROUS reports from doctors, suggested it might work.

Well, hell, if it worked for Rio Giardinieri, who told us about it on TV so we know it's true, why not have the President of the United States play doctor on TV? What's the possible harm?

Even if that were to be, I'm still not sure why he's promoting it?

As per post #101, I can guarantee you Abbott Labs is a huge campaign contributor to republicans, including my congressman kinzinger.

Other than it is Trump who clearly most hate I do not understand the skepticism. It is a drug that has long been used. It has been approved by the FDA. It gives people some hope of being able to fight this virus. Under normal conditions we would like to study the drug for months, years as the good doctor says.

That being said these are not normal times. If g-d forbid me or a family member is struck, I would surely take this drug.

What exactly can't be right here. Do you think he is working on commission to sell this drug?
I don't know.

But before you attribute hate, let's start with mistrust. When someone's a pathological liar and cannot be trusted, yeah you question his motives. As it's prudent you should. Am I to assume Trump miraculously found God, and is now being honest?

Yeah! Let's do nothing. Don't even try. That'll work just great. :lamo

Not one person suggests do nothing. Not one person is suggesting doctors on the front lines shouldn't prescribe it to their patients with CV19.

The problem is Trump is doing the "I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night" routine from the WH during a pandemic, and his own experts he shares the stage with, the REAL DOCTORS, don't back his claims of a miracle cure up.

What kind of positive results? On patients who very likely would never have need any treatment like Dr. Raoult's "trial" (after excluding the 6 patients who started his trial but ended up in the ICU)?

This is taken directly from the Fact Sheet for Patients as part of the FDA's EUA for hydroxychloroquine sulfate: There is no U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved product available to treat COVID-19.

I'm still trying to figure-out his angle with this. He is simply pushing this way too hard for no easily discernible reason that I can tell. Something just ain't right, here.

He honestly thinks there is a simple solution to a difficult problem

Y'all are mad that Trump might come out looking good.

Yeah, did you catch that where Trump ended Fauci's time at the dias after the Hydroxy question? And I think much less of Fauci now when he capitulated & stood down, rather then answer the question. Trump knew what was going to happen.

I have no objection to trying it but the results seem very minimal at best... I DO OBJECT to saying it is approved by the FDA implying the FDA has approved it as a treatment for COVID19. That's simply wrong... This is directly from the required notice under the FDA EUA for patients:

There is no U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved product available to treat COVID-19.

Isolated sections of hospitals in the SOUTH are denying they have any C-19 cases. Nurses in those hospitals are saying they have dozens of cases.

It is absolutely not political in nature, it is all about the Benjamins Baby. treatment codes trigger different billing mechanisms.

Without a prescription they aren't getting any of it. It would be up to a doctor to see how their heart is. Now, it is possible that a doctor doesn't do a big work up on the heart if there's no symptoms or anything, but that would not be Trump's fault.

It's irresponsible for him to be promoting this or any medical advice short of what has been approved by the people who know. We do have things called black markets and the president is driving that market up everytime he promotes any of these drugs. The last thing we need is people showing up at ER's because they heard him and are having adverse issues from taking it.

That might turn out to be the case. During the Civil War, they didn't understand that cleanliness would avoid infections. It was a simple solution.

"Erythromycin, which will kill certain things that you don't want living within your body. It's a powerful drug ... what do you have to lose?"

Serious question: why is trump trying to kill people who'll vote for him?

I thought you would say that. Conservatives tend to believe in simple solutions

You mean like that couple in Arizone? Oh, wait, they're Democrats. :lamo

IMHO, having an effective treatment, cure or preventative for COVID-19 is Trump greatest (only?) hope for getting us back to work before a vaccine is available. Basically, Trump saw something on TV which he thinks, hopes and dreams holds promise. The fact that it is also an inexpensive generic is an added bonus.

Thank you for this. Another poster had a link at post #40 and I have a post at #91. With a controversial topic, I was just lazy at first.

Oh, and trump likes new words to him with lots of syllables. Obviously efficacy isn’t one of them. HCQ has 6 syllables.

I’m chasing down companies who make HCQ, who they campaign donate to, and who bought up their stock with inside trading. Especially since trump just bought up 29 million units.

Y'all are mad that Trump might come out looking good.

Their end game is that they're terrified that he will get reelected.

Liberals should really stop thinking. It never turns out well.
