Christian School Expels Girl for Wearing Rainbow Sweater on Her Birthday

Well, it is pair for the course that some people will excuse all sort of bigotry if it is a religious institution that is doing that.
One man's moral standards are another man's bigotry.

If you want to start your own private school to preach your morality/bigotry, be my guest. Throw pride parades in the halls and teach the kids to worship phallic idols for religious studies credit. If parents are fool-headed enough to send their child to RAMOSS Academy, you won't find me spitting venom on the administrators for expelling an anti-LGBT student. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together ought to know what they're signing up for.

Am I giving you a "free pass" on your reprehensible behaviour? Yes. That's the sine qua non of private institutions in a free society, which you apparently can't stand. Freedom to take refuge from progressive morality (or rather, the crippling lack thereof) is a precious commodity indeed.

Here in America Christians teach their children the beliefs and values taught in the Bible. We do not support Muslim schools but here in the US we tend to allow Muslims to do their thing in compliance with Constitutional rights to exercise their religion as they see fit.

BWAHAHAHAHA

We USED to teach the Bible as the pinnacle of morality in schools...

And during that same period it was legal to rape your wife, slavery and segregation were legal and every other pre-1970s atrocity committed by Americans..

It is just mind blowing that ANYONE still believes in the morality of the Bible.. Christianity ran western society for 1,500 years.... and made VERY little advancement until the enlightenment when secularism began to rule societies.

Furthermore, every modern advancement along those lines has been done in express objection to the religious crowd. Interracial marriage, same-sex marriage, school segregation...

Why are you Ok with a private school dictating what a student wears and eats while off of their property on their own time in the privacy of their own home? That's very nanny state, prying into people's personal lives.

Yes, you would "spit venom" for those things. You people freak out all the time over some CEO getting canned because he's a bigot, or an advertiser bailing on a Fox News host because of their nonsense.

Ever since Brown v Board of Education, the evangelical right has been taught that public schools consist entirely of scary black gangbangers.

So they think they're being good parents when they enroll their kids in some straitjacketed evangelical hellhole.

So these parents are evangelicals and righties? How do you know?

Oh wait, I just saw she was expelled. Wow, what complete assholes. Nobody should go to religious school, indoctrinating kids to become the Taliban

Oh, she should have followed the schools morals of being a homophobic POS.

This wasn't a Madrassa.

And the Taliban kills LBGTQ people.

Hyperbole and stupidity in one post.

She may have...and unless. In other words, you don't know any more than I do, and you're only speculating.

I'm speculating that the dress code doesn't extend beyond school. Unless they accept pajama pants.

Good point. It could be she was expelled as a result of a culmination of misdeeds. A lot of times, I find that stories have been sensationalized, but when the facts come out -- it's a different story all together.

Maybe, but the last straw was wearing a rainbow sweater in a restaurant?

Whitefield Academy, a private Christian school, expelled 15-year-old freshman*Kayla Kenney*for having the*audacity*to celebrate her birthday with a multi-colored cake while wearing a rainbow sweater.

Because*everyone*knows what that really means.

We don't even know that she's gay. But hey, rainbows, OMG! Guess the Noah story doesn't mean anything to them.

Any liberal symbol needs to be discriminated against as long as liberals support this...

The differences between a madrassa and this school woukd appear to be mostly cosmetic.

And your defense for this is that they're a little hetter thsn the Taliban? That's an awfully low standard.

It's possible that the parents put the daughter in this private school for reasons that were more secular than religious. The Academy is justly proud of it's high scholastic standards and the parents might have thought that they were giving her the best possible education. If they had read the handbook beforehand they might have had second thoughts. I know I would have.

I don't support that if he was suspended for specifically wearing a T Shirt with an American flag on it. There's this
Jaegur was told his T-shirt violated the school dress code, and he was ordered to in-school suspension. At Seagoville High School, students must wear a solid color shirt; there are exceptions for school or college logo shirts or ones supporting the U.S. military,
and this
The school principal, who was not on campus the day of the T-shirt incident, said the administrator misinterpreted the dress code, and apologized to Goode via phone call on Tuesday.

I'm speculating that the dress code doesn't extend beyond school. Unless they accept pajama pants.

As has been quoted before, the handbook states that the school requires the family and home to conform to the school's values. If they do not, than the school can kick the student out. So, yes, they reserve the right to pass judgement on what the student wears outside of school. The parents should have read the handbook.

A rainbow is liberal now? Are you trying for stupidest post of the day?

Also, apoarently you didn't read the article. She was not in school, she was at a restaurant.

The only reason that the school is against the American flag is because of liberals. They push dress codes like that. The location being a school is basically irrelevant.

If you look at the handbook, you'll see that the dress code does extend beyond school and includes events in which the student is considered to be representing the school.

I see you don't understand the whole of the source story.

Now I agree that the rainbow shirt was not cause for expelsion, but the girl had already committed an act worthy of expulsion.

You should read the article you linked.

Apparently Rocket didn't know it's significance, or everyone crying about protecting a girl who takes vaping equipment to a Christian school.
