Trump signs executive orders on coronavirus economic relief

No kidding. With the exception of guns and abortion, Republicans have abandoned every single "principle" they used to fake they had. They criticize Democratic tactics and then a year later say, "But we did it better."

Hey, you spineless, soulless, lying Republicans, at the end of Obama's first term, he had signed 147 executive orders. It's still August and Trump has signed 177.

How about you try and focus your mind here if you can. What 'principles' has the right abandoned? And why would the idea that people would abandon their beliefs and agree with you cause you so much angst? And are you saying executive orders are a good thing or a bad thing? You seem horribly confused.

But reducing benefits for Labor as the least wealthy to coerce them to work is ok? Only the right wing believes in that form of inequality.
Agreed. I find it abhorrent.

They're just a bunch of liars and fakes lead by Limbaugh, Hannity and Trump.

No, it's doing it (likely) illegally, rather than Constitutionally-Legislatively. This is no different than Obama's DACA E.O., and we saw what that did. In fact, I believe this will be far worse.

SCOTUS said it can't be rescinded unless it goes through that Administrative act as DACA impacted a lot of people

I would suspect this current EO impacts more people

i give him credit for being a really good con man.

What depresses me is that my entire life conservatives have wagged their fingers and taken pride in being sharp enough to catch and toss "all those big city slicker con men" and yet here we are and they've fallen for the biggest city slicker con man to ever walk the Earth.

It's one thing to push the limits of prosecutorial discretion, which is within the purview of executive authority.

It's another to look at the Constitution, rip it up, and say **** it, I am just going to issue edicts like some sort of emperor, and attempt to acquire for yourself, the powers reserved to Congress.

What Trump is doing is fascism pure and simple, and his supporters are too stupid and too uneducated to understand it as fascism.

Right now...at this very moment...the Trump administration is trying to figure out ways to prevent people from voting.

I mean, guys...WAKE UP!

Nothing he is doing is okay. Not a single thing.

This isn't Nazi Germany.

This is the United States of America and I expected more from you all.
Your point is fair, here. Remember, Trump declared Emergency Orders specifically to raid monies Congress explicit failed to provide. That's pretty egregious.

Obamas EO withstood court challenge and Trumps likely will to.

DACA was a prosecutorial discretion executive order. Now one could certainly argue that it went beyond the president's prosecutorial discretion purview, and that would certainly be a reasonable argument, but that is what it fell under.

In contrast, this is a president decreeing on his own additional spending amounting to around 2% of GDP, and that is just for the additional unemployment benefits. It is not even in the same ballpark of any other president's EOs.
Exactly. Prosecutorial discretion vs public funding. Big difference.

"If I'm victorious on November 3rd, I plan to forgive these taxes and make permanent cuts to the payroll tax," Trump said.

Of course he did. What an absolute piece of ****.
:lamo

Yeah, I caught that too. Wha?? :doh

Nice redirect trump

Moscow Mitch couldn't even get enough of his republican senators to pass even his reduced funding bill to open the negotiations with the democrats.

Those tea party republicans refuse to fund any relief bill.

Now once.again trump has overreacted and his executive orders will be struck down. Meantime republicans in the Senate get a reprieve

just watch these good little Trump Foot Soldiers support Trump bypassing the Republicans in Congress (stealing their job from them).

it's just damn funny.

dude. He's doing this in an attempt to buy votes.

Tell the truth, you were never a constitutionalist, correct?

trumps trying to buy votes!!!!!!! He cant do that, thats what we liberals do

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump signed executive orders Saturday for coronavirus economic relief, upending negotiations with Congress after lawmakers failed to reach a deal on Friday.

I said while they were debating the first stimulus package that there would be another one, right before the election, simply to get votes for The Donald. This is a little earlier than I was thinking. I was thinking Sept/Oct.

It's a smart move. Obvious, but smart. Total pandering and no way can they keep up employees paying no payroll taxes ongoing. That's just BS only the stupid would believe. But...we have many of those...see: results, current resident in WH :(

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

NO this is not about the People, Trump has no concern for the American Public ... This is nothing more than another Republican Sham... concocted by Republican Agreement to try and Give Trump some Political Boost.... This has nothing to do with having Respect For American People....

Everyone who is Aware can see right through it. It's Republican's way of trying to void out The Democratic House... all for his own Personal Political Benefit...

Another move as if he thinks he's "Dictator Over America".

People need to wake up and stop being so "gullible" for Manipulation, the manipulation of playing them "For Stupid" - They know "this works on Trump Cultist, because they've proven these people will fall for anything and will destroy anything in and of America for their Worship of their White Nationalist Hero and His Game of Right Wing CONFEDERATE Republicans.

This is an evil and people need to see it for what it is, don't fall into any Republican Confederacy Trance and become sucker played.

It's sad that time is showing America's not to be critical thinkers, and the Rabid Confederate Republican are playing them on every front. It's sad... the world now knows the level of ignorance that infects the American Democracy and has done so for centuries and decades... It's an Evil... which has damaged America Severely.

You're generous.
I think he's spinning right to the very end and that this latest ploy either has some kind of grift attached or it's some kind of exploding cigar.
He's just interested in APPEARING as if he's trying to be legit.
Absolutely!

Oh, give me a ****ing break. Is it a requirement of the Republican party to have the memory of a goldfish and the moral integrity of a cow pie? Family values. Fiscal conservatism. Balanced budgets. Free markets. Resistance to labor unions. Global leadership. The Republican party shat on every last one of them the day they nominated Trump because they never cared about any of them at all. They were all lies to trick the minimally educated, independent thinking incapable, irrational Evangelicals. Now that they have that group in the bag, they don't need to bother with all those other things because they're such a hassle.

Your second question doesn't make any sense. Why don't you try to focus your mind here if you can?

I never made a judgment on executive orders, but oh jesus, all the brain dead conservatives screamed until they lost their voices for years about King Blacky Obama usurping the democracy and tyrannizing the citizens. Every last Trumpist was a piece of **** then and they're somehow even worse now. Your middle school digs about my confusion aside, Republicans are trash without morals.

What depresses me is that my entire life conservatives have wagged their fingers and taken pride in being sharp enough to catch and toss "all those big city slicker con men" and yet here we are and they've fallen for the biggest city slicker con man to ever walk the Earth.

they were never what they said they were.

just a bunch of liars and fakes. maybe that's why Trump is palatable.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump signed executive orders Saturday for coronavirus economic relief, upending negotiations with Congress after lawmakers failed to reach a deal on Friday.

The executive orders establish a payroll tax holiday through the end of the year for Americans earning less than $100,000 a year.

They also defer student loan payments through the end of the year; continue eviction moratoriums; and extend enhanced unemployment benefits that expired last week, but at a reduced level of $400 instead of the prior $600.

"If I'm victorious on November 3rd, I plan to forgive these taxes and make permanent cuts to the payroll tax," Trump said. "Joe Biden and the Democrats may not want that, they don't want that."
Trump signs executive orders on coronavirus economic relief

Looks like Trump got tired of Congress not getting anything done....he bypassed them

And how many of them will he actually have the power to do? Maybe one of them?

At least we know Trump wants SS and Medicare to go bankrupt sooner than later.
