Obvious comparisons with trump do not seem to sway Trumpers at all.

Isn't it amazing how the left will callously rewrite history? I mean, less than 20 years ago, the left thought McCain was equivalent to slug slime. Now, the left, like the OP, paints him as a hero.

I would support John McCain, if he wasn't so old. And dead.

I even respected him when he ran for President, though his opponent was Barack Obama. He did support Bush's stupid wars, but he drew the line at torture. That is significant: the US constitution does not outlaw war, but it does outlaw torture.

I also respected Mitt Romney when he ran for President. I distrusted his 'small government' gist, but he would have been a good administrator. He probably would have used the veto often, but that's a constitutional power of the President.

I will never respect President Trump. His term is best excused by incompetence. Nothing he tried to do was good, excepting some welfare measures during COVID where his intentions were plainly to buy votes. His motives for supposedly nationalistic speech and deed, are betrayed by his speech and deed after losing in 2020. He never cared about anything but his re-election, and if he's elected again he won't even be restrained by that. There will be no restraint on his urge to bend every American to his will. He will be obsessed by "making his mark" on America, making it petty and mean like he is.

And who comes next, in the line of Republican contenders? They can't so quickly turn away the MAGA's, but they also can't try to imitate Trump. It won't be a Bush, a McCain or a Romney, you can be sure. Trump has driven those voters away from the party.

Bad times ahead for the GOP if Trump loses. But a whole new era if he wins.

Is this what passes for an intellectual argument these days? Cave drawings?
?? Is your post what passes for intellectual content these days? Running cover for the convicted criminal fraud Trump?

(snif - snif) Smells like desperation.

Perhaps you're unaware that the Republican Congressional delegation has consistently moved to the right. McCain held his ground, hence why "the left" has improved their opinion of him.

Trumpist Republicans tried to repeal Obamacare with no assurance that they would replace it with anything. McCain was the last dissenting vote, because he personally had access to government healthcare (as all Representatives and Senators do) and could not countenance stripping it from millions of Americans.

You probably don't respect that. Obamacare bad, nothing to replace it good. Right?

Says it all.
MAGA is scum. We know what happens to people who worship golden idols from the Bible.

Because you're a big fan of the Bible, right?

I mean if not, your post is some pretty nasty hypocrisy...

I can't imagine Stalinists being THAT hypocritical.

Of course you would, McCain was a lefty, a crony "capitalist" who promoted perpetual war profiteering and globalist imperialism.

Is Mueller or McCain running for President?

I must have missed those announcements

I thought i was comparing Biden to Trump

Like i was Clinton to Trump years ago....

Two piles of crap.....both smell to high heaven, and neither choice is palatable at all

I'll be voting against those who have villified McCain and his daughter...Trumpers, to their shame.
Oh?

Because the National Socialist democrats had nothing but love for McCain when he ran for president?

Any real republican would do the same.

But you're not a Republican, real or otherwise - and you want Republicans to fail.

So anyone with a brain would eschew what you say.

.you can't be that thick...................so that is a poor attempt at deflection

What would I be deflecting?

The comparing of a man dead for many years, who the democrats viciously savaged and trashed - with the current candidate - who the shameful democrats viciously savage and trash is absurd and has zero bearing on anything.

You will vote for who the party tells you to vote for - regardless of any outside factor.
