Trudeau said in a "60 Minutes" interview to be aired Sunday that "it might be nice if they paid a little more attention to the world."

News from The Associated Press

I've lived in Ontario (not too far from Ottawa) and BC... and well... I wish Canadians would pay a little more attention to their history and realize what a PoS Pierre Trudeau was... and they just elected more of the same.

Actually, they did well having Harper running the show for so long... but it would have been nice to see the Libs stay as a power no bigger than their Socialist brethren, the NDP.

If the world's not whining about how Americans are constantly sticking their noses in other people's business, they're whining about how the U.S. isn't solving all the problems of the world. I don't know who Trudeau is but he sounds like a piece of ****.

or perhaps they'd rather most americans actually pay attention to world events so they'd know more about all the ****ed up **** our government does all over the place. perhaps then the American people would do something about it.

playing devil's advocate here, kinda.

That was funny where you said the American people would do something about it. I laughed so ha....oh...you were serious?

You might have lived there, but I strongly agree with Harper - Americans DO need to pay far more attention to the world. If there's anything that bothered me over my Navy career, it was the sheer ignorance my fellow Americans showed about other peoples, nations, cultures, and religions. It's as if they not only didn't know much about what's going on outside our borders, but they didn't see why there was any real need to understand what was going on outside our borders.

And if anyone needs any proof as to how big a problem this is, all one need do is to remember what happened when a group of Muslim scholars tried to talk to George W. Bush to explain to him the problems between the Sunni and Shiite Muslims, and his reply went along the line of, "They're all Muslims, right?" And that is at the base of why we screwed up the Middle East so badly during his presidency.

meh I mean maybe if people were more aware of what was going on yeah, but we're pretty much fat and happy so we have no incentive to change.

Change 'more' to 'less' and I am with him.

I'd give you ten thumbs up for that one if I could.

"Trudeau say Americans should pay more attention to the world"

Americans say Trudeau should pay more attention to his own business.

America has saved so many asses, and done so much good in the world... you could combine all the countries together and they wouldn't come close to matching us.

America is the most benevolent and giving nation on this planet... if we wanted to conquer the world... we could do it. We haven't.

I hope I live long enough to watch China's communist government crumble... but if they don't... it will be interesting to watch what these folks do.

Canada was a good ally and world citizen and then along came this fellow T that wouldn't know, what it means to "pay attention to the world".

Iraq was " sovereign, Democratic and stable " in 2011 according to Obama.

Aren't you the one who claimed that Singapore is a Muslim nation and never took that claim back? Are you seriously talking about geopolitical ignorance here?

End of thread. This time, you pretty much nailed it.

if he said the U.S. should mind its own business and let the rest of the world solve their own problems instead of running to the U.S. all the time, then i'd say right on.

Well if anyone bother to read the article he is saying that Americans should learn more about foreign affairs, foreign affairs is not solely invasions and building walls.

Justin Trudeau doesn't speak for this proud Canadian and never will. He's a self-indulgent dullard who got elected on the basis of a pleasing face and a famous last name. I can never criticize Americans for electing Barack Obama again after my fellow citizens elected this buffoon to our highest office. He's an embarrassment.

Oh, is that all? In that case, the idiot should shut up and mind his own business. He's no expert, more of a moron. With all due respect, of course.

Yeah, that's right - I said it was a Muslim nation. Yes, it claims to be a secular nation...but look at what's on their flag.

In other words, just because a nation says something doesn't mean that something is true e.g. "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction!"

Iraq was " sovereign, Democratic and stable " in 2011 according to Obama.

And this disproves what I said...how? Oh, I see - it DOESN'T. That's just you using something Obama said completely out of political context, with no understanding of why politics makes for strange bedfellows.

Honestly... I really don't buy the "Americans are ignorant when it comes to the world" tripe. That's a wrongful stereotype perpetuated by internet memes and edited videos where some guy asks someone to point to X country on a map and they get it wrong... When I was in school I had to learn all the US states and capitols, all the Canadian provinces and their capitals, as well as the capitals of major nations around the world. We also had to memorize every country and had tests over each continent needing to name the countries in them. I love Canada and the Canadian people, but I've debated with some who know very very little about the US and other countries and their view on international conflicts were pretty naive with a "we should all be peacekeeping forces and do aid" with pretty much every conflict. I'd never make such a generalization though like what Trudeau seems to be doing. Heck, many people around the world have this false view that America is a gun-happy violent place and anyone who walks downtown at night is going to get shot up. I've heard that from many Europeans who seem to think the States are like some violent African conflict.

I think because America is involved internationally most know at least some about the conflicts around the world regardless of what side of the issue you're on. Going by stereotypes is wrong.

My lord, our lives are based on politics, here, and everywhere. Living in a 1st world country knowledge is everywhere, and easily accessible for god-sake. I am pretty sure we are more world aware than a lot of other countries. Heck people even get sick of us getting in 'their' business, we can't please anyone, and that is the issue here. You know what, just for this we are never changing to metrics, they only exist to heckle the big power is what it seems to be (and we aren't as much as a big power as we were before) don't tempt me Mr.Trudeau, I suppose he may be jealous, and I do see ignorance among citizens, but that is the minority. The point is we are a very politically involved society, and issue outside of this country instantly turns into a Globalist V. Isolationist debate, we fight among each other in opinions based off the knowledge we crave and gather. We may be one of the better informed populous's but I assume we may not be the best.

Actually, Harper brought in nothing but deficit budgets after 8 or 9 years of Liberal Party surpluses. But given your choices, either party, I'll take Trudeau. Hell, given your choices I'd take Harper and I've never voted anything but Liberal in my life. I think that you look at Canadian politics and see a reasonable and sane quality that US politics seems to have abandoned for the sake of playing to the lowest common denominator. Well, by 'US politics' I mean the Republican Party. What the hell do they think they're doing? They've got a golden opportunity here. The Democrats haven't got a popular candidate. All the Republicans have to do is put forth a staunch, reasonable, presidential candidate and look what they've come up with.

Thanks for proving why it is super-ironic that you're the one who's talking about American citizens' geopolitical ignorance.

It took 30 years the clean up his daddy's messes. I guess time will tell about the good son.
