If you have a issue with people being asked to back up their claims that is your problem not mine. It's rather standard on debate forums.

You said it was a 'claim' of his.
It was not a 'claim'.
He merely passed on a report widely circulated and discussed in military chit chat circles. I heard a lot about it a month or so ago myself. It was fairly big news in that area - an Aegis destroyer getting nullified by a Russian jammer. I assume it was not true, but the interesting thing is the American Navy did not seem to directly deny it.
Ahh it's probably just Russian propaganda...but it's interesting.
He even said 'if it was true'...which means he was not claiming it, just passing it on.
I don't know your history with him, but when someone passes on an article and then says 'if it is true'; then that is not a claim. That is merely passing on information with a disclaimer.
You are acting like he originated the report and/or was championing it...he did neither (from what I saw).
That's my point.
