CNN Admits Mar-a-lago value

… it shows how unrealistic the alleged value assessed (invented?) by the court was.
Not by the court--they used the tax assessors numbers:

In his pre-trial ruling, Judge Engoron noted that the Palm Beach County Assessor appraised the market value of Mar-a-Lago at between $18 million and $27.6 million for tax purposes.

In contrast, Mr Trump valued Mar-a-Lago at between $426.5 million and $612 million over the same decade, "an overvaluation of at least 2,300%, compared to the assessor's appraisal," the judge wrote.

Real estate experts point out that the tax assessor value is typically lower than what a property could be sold for, so it's not a like-for-like comparison.

The New York attorney general alleges the Trump business came up with the higher numbers by the price-per-acre of "comparable" properties - but those were for lands without deed restrictions.

The attorney general's case claims this is fraud, that the Trump Organization knew about Mar-a-Lago's deed restrictions and ignored them to come up with values as if it were purely a private residence.

Unfortunately for Trump, this isn't about him or Mar a Lago, it's about the numbers on the books and tax fraud.

Of course it does because CNN is always truthful and fair-minded, right?

Nope, because much smaller lots (even without buildings on them) nearby have sold for much more than $18M. The court chose to use the assessed (for local taxation purposes) value.

Dig the headline folks:

CNN Admits Mar-a-lago value

Some of us got enough of a high school education to know the difference between a loaded headline that is in fact false and what a story REALLY is about.

Real estate CEO says Trump could sell Mar-a-Lago 'quickly' to secure $464 million bond!

For the more simple minded among us, it wasn't CNN who admitted anything, it was a Real estate CEO speaking on CNN.

Now, my guess is, that Righties LOVE to jig the headlines to say something that isn't a fact or true. And those headlines are meant to draw in mindless minions so they can all slap each other on the back and go ..........."you see!."

How is that CNN admitting anything? A Real Estate guest on a news mentioned a number. Not CNN. Your headline is false and misleading. But I suspect you already know that.
Far right media trains people to think this way.

That doesn't show if the property valuation is accurate or not--just that it was Floridian assessors that valued the property--not "liberal" anyone--judges or prosecutors either.

I owned a house.

Our selling price was far different than what we paid taxes on and what we could borrow against.

Just sayin' ;)

anyone who has ever dealt in business/properties/buying/selling knows this

And this is important because...
The DA that went after him for allegedly overvaluing his property lied and said Mar A Lago was worth $18 mil when that was blatantly not true.

I'm guessing you didn't actually watch or listen to the video. CNN put up a graphic of it being worth $240 million and that is also what the CNN host said herself. The guess only said "in the hundreds of millions". She gave no specific number. That was all CNN>

They don't care about anything but getting Trump to such a degree that normally smart people have become irrational frothing zombies.

This is not rocket science, single family homes in that area go as high as 57 million.Zillow

Exactly! So it makes no sense why Trump used the wrong metrics to valuate Mar a Lago for tax and loan purposes.

He must have known what he was doing because he created the zoning restrictions and halted all updating of the historical preservation he created to get that tax break to begin with. Perhaps he wasn't aware that would devalue the resale?

I'm sure there are Gotti fans that would get into a bidding war over his estate if they could, but that's not a market valuation for the purposes of business transactions. The fact that no substantive updates can be made to bring the property into this century, that it has to remain a commercial property, etc. knocks out anyone seeking anything other than purchasing a hospitality compound.

Everyone knows that! :)

The prosecutor did not evaluate the property a tax assessor did. The tax assessor valued it based on its zoning which doesn't allow for redevelopment or occupation as a private residence.
