For anyone that commits a crime with a gun, add 10 years to the sentence they get for the crime. Make it automatic no left wing judge could set it aside or any whinning defense att. Also------------write the law that 10 years is consecutive not concurrent.!!!!!

I have a better one: Anyone who commits a crime with a gun get an immediate death sentence...no appeals.

I am, as a conservative, for gun control.

ALL leftists must immediately turn in their firearms to the nearest law enforcement office. If they want gun control that bad. :)

You think people that are going out and committing armed robbery or murder or are committing mass shootings are sitting down and weighing the pro's and con's of their actions and considering how harsh of a sentence they might get?

Also, if 2 guys are caught urinating in an alley, I don't think the guy with concealed carry on him should get an extra 10 years just for having a legal gun on him.

An argument can certainly be made that leftists are mentally ill, and therefore a threat to both themselves and the general public if allowed to remain armed. After all, Dr. Lyle H. Rossiter, Jr., M.D., is a veteran clinical psychologist who wrote, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness."

If the guns aren't so easily available the opportunities to acquire them so easily won't be there. Gun-related murders in EVERY advanced nation with stringent firearms legislation has seen dramatic drops in related crime since bans were introduced. What makes America uniquely impotent to address her epidemic?

You know that's disingenuous. Gun law advocates aren't after all guns. Right now they'd be happy if we could just regulate, more carefully, who is allowed to buy them.

Can we get rid of drunk driving laws if we just increase the penalty for killing people while driving drunk?

And if criminals spent more time behind bars there would be fewer criminals on the streets. At least this idea targets those breaking the laws instead of those who are not.

What makes America different is the number of guns and gun owners. The toothpaste is already out of the tube and any meaningful solution needs to work with what we have.

Banning full auto sales going forward worked pretty well with Reagan. Not sure why that can't work with some of the other crazy stuff we have on the streets now. I'd be OK with that.

Do you truly think that will change anything?

I doubt anyone decides to rob a liquor store then decides against it because now the penalty is double.

But nobody has even suggested a meaningful solution-unless you call Trump's idiotic suggestion of more mental institutions, 'meaningful'. And why? Because they won't until the NRA stops stuffing the pockets of those with the power to actually do something positive, instead of mouthing platitudes each time the predictable mass shooting happens. And so the circle goes...another shooting, more 'thoughts and prayers'.

There is nothing crazy about semi automatic firearms that have been available for over 100 years. What’s crazy is thinking because something looks a certain way it is somehow more dangerous

I'm not advocating for an assault weapons ban, but during the 10 year period that we did have one, mass shootings and fatalities from mass shootings went down substantially. So the idea that gun laws just can't possibly change criminal behavior is just wrong.
