I'm watching X-Files from the beginning ... again.

In Season 4 now. Trying to remember at which point I should switch over to the first movie, "Fight the Future".

But I'm going to skip the second movie, "I Want to Believe". I never want to see the second movie again. It made me angry! It seemed like the writers had completely destroyed the X-Files universe.

Then came the reboot in 2016 and it restored my faith in the series! :D

They had a lot of loose ends to tie up and a lot of improbabilities to gloss over -- and they had to deal with how the world had not been taken over completely by the aliens in 2012 as promised -- and they did a darn good job considering.

So, here I am, working my way again through the whole series, except for the 2nd movie, and except for the season which aired this year, which I saw on Fox but I don't yet have on DVD. And I am a very happy fan. :)

I believe the first movie is after season 5. I believe. I want to believe, anyway. ;)

I was a huge fan until all the personnel changes at the end of the series. I hated that 2nd movie, too.

I watched last season and it was OK, but not as good as the original series. This season? I watched maybe 1 or 2 episodes and gave up. :(

Ha! Thanks.

I learned to love Agent Doggett. But it was a slow process -- appreciated him more in later viewings. Anyone who wasn't Mulder or Scully was going to meet with resistance. And I liked how Reyes was very far from being a Scully clone ... even though I didn't warm up to her as much as to Doggett.

Didja get it? Didja get it?

As we were getting to the end of the most recent season, they kept doing monster-of-the-week episodes. With each new standalone episode in the 2nd half of the season, though I enjoyed it for what it was, I kept getting more stressed about how little time they were giving themselves to finish the main story arc. And since Gillian Anderson said she absolutely was not coming back for a new season, they HAD to finish the main story line, didn't they?

But could they do it in the single episode they left themselves to do it in?

I continued to ask myself that question about two-thirds of the way into that last episode.

But in the end they tied things up pretty well. And rather amusingly in a morbid way.

So ... happy camper here :):):)

I got to the part where they find out the government is essentially acting as an accomplice to a stealth alien invasion. I largely lost interest after that. But everything up until that point was the utter titis.

titis?

I love X files, that is interesting but my son, he is 10, we are watching it together, and i am amazed he likes it. After studying with maths tutors, allow him to play some video games and now, we found something intersting for both of us.

What's your favorite episode?

Season 5 Episode 5 is coming on now -- The Post-Modern Prometheus.

I love that one.

Now on is Season 5 Episode 12 -- Bad Blood

With the kid with the fake vampire teeth and Mulder drives a stake through his heart ....

that's going in my top ten list .......

lol

On Season 7, Episode 18 now. "Hollywood A.D."

Also gotta be in the top 10.

About the Lazarus Bowl.

With Garry Shandling playing himself as the actor playing Fox Mulder and Téa Leoni playing herself as the actor playing Dana Scully. Which is bittersweet now that Leoni and Duchovny are not together anymore, but it was pretty great then. And still kinda cute.

Season 8. Enter Robert Patrick as John Doggett.

Not an easy role. As to be expected for many/most who were hooked on Fox Mulder, I didn't appreciate Robert Patrick at first. He grew on me in a big way.

Toward the end, I think in Season 9, they added some strange percussion to the opening theme. A cymbal I think.

It took away some of the spookiness. (I really liked the spookiness, so I didn't like the cymbal.)

I've tried to find comments online about this change in the theme and so far I have found none. That strikes me as odd. I thought a change of an iconic theme would get a lot of attention even if the series was from a time when the internet wasn't very big yet.

8th to last episode of the original series -- "Improbable"

the Burt Reynolds episode

Maybe my very favorite in spite of how stupid the numerology angle is. Possibly the worst, most annoying case-cracking ever, but between Burt's quirky performance and the music ... gosh, what a fun one.
