Presuming you are an American, would you go to war to defend the USA?

That's a broad-topic: what sense are we defending ourselves? Foreign or domestic enemy? Is our government fully functioning or are we falling apart?
Depends on the circumstances. Are we talking actual defence, or "We have to go out there to defend our liberties?"
I never once bought into the line that our soldier were "fighting for America" in Iraq.
Doesn't mean I didn't support them. They're my country men and country women, of course I support THEM. Just not the cause they were duped... er, ummm... told they were fighting for.
I don't disagree with that, but that only applies to soldiers who were already in. It doesn't apply to those who enlisted afterward. It's the voters that were duped....as a soldier your job it to fight where you're Democratically elected President and Congress tell you to.
For defensive purposes on the homeland, absolutely and without question.
For defense of a US interest abroad, maybe.
For offensive purposes, probably not.
It would depend entirely on the situation and the situation would have to be dire beyond anything I imagine. Although the United States is important to me and I believe that it is the nation with the greatest potential to be the "ideal society" as I see it, there are other things that I consider more important including my life.Presuming you are an American, would you go to war to defend the USA?
