Witness Says Hospital Created Comfort Room For Aborted Babies To Die In

Do you think that hospitals make this information public? Where would one acquire a list?

With as much as hospitals are inspected, it would be known.

If someone suspected...a quick call to the state dept of health would yield an investigation.

If this happened....there would have to be a lot of staff members conspiring to trick inspectors and such.

IOW, you can't produce a list. I understand.

You apparently don't if you think that when I ask where to find a list, I somehow know where to find one.

I am very pro-choice, but completely against last term partial birth abortion UNLESS the woman's life literally is physically in life-threatening danger OR it is CERTAIN the fetus is not viable. Otherwise, waiting until the last minute to abort because she had a fight with her boyfriend or has typical pre-birth fear or depression doesn't work for me.

If a fetus is born alive, it has 100% exactly the same legal rights and as you and I, and falls under the same legal protect. There is no such thing as "allowing it to die in comfort." It means they allow it to die of thirst, a cruel death for a newborn.

This is not infanticide. It's illegal to kill an infant in the United States. It is not illegal to abort a fetus. And if the fetus who is legally being aborted somehow survives, decent people want it to die in comfort. You Trump panty twisters are all mad that this Chicago hospital gave those fetuses comfort 20+ years ago. You're the ones who want it to suffer.

I'm not the one who approves of partial birth abortion. That's your crush Donald Trump. Trump in 1999: ‘I am Very Pro-Choice’

And god only knows how many abortions their orange hero has paid for over the years.

Comfort care, palliative care, and hospice is most assuredly focused on giving comfort to a tragically afflicted baby.

A decision to remain pregnant when it is discovered that a fetus has severe health issues. A decision can also be to allow for abortion.

Many hospitals have palliative care programs that focus on comfort of the tragically afflicted newborn.

I am sorry you believe that allowing a baby to die in comfort is not possible. You are wrong.

This does not happen. I challenge anyone who thinks it does to produce proof of just one case. And not from an anti choice biased site.

I have read through the responses in this thread and it proves the sad truth that people have grown cold and have lost respect for life. In reading some of their posts it's like a soulless person speaking. In fact it highlighted some of those who have more respect for animals wellbeing than a human being.

You want to know why an increase in acts of violence from mass shootings etc.? Look in the mirror. Most likely you raised your children that life in the womb is expendable and worthless unless the mother says it is worthy of life. And if she decides to abort late term even though with a little assistance could survive, it is her right to put the baby in a room until it dies on its own. How touching that she wants it to die in peace and comfort! What a bitch! May all the days of her life be haunted over the choices she made.

There's a group of people who have come out and said they survived an abortion that are now adults and are now telling their stories. May the LORD make the people hear.

So the hospital made sure the parents were comforted, had a chance to be photographed with the baby, and the baby was kept clean, warm and comfortable.

And that bothers you? You wanted the baby and the parents to be in agony?

I think they have issue with the next part where they withhold any treatment an wait for the baby to die. Death varies but quite frequently it can be an agonizing process.

This is a thread about women choosing later term abortions. Abortions that frequently occur at a time after a woman has had her 20 week ultrasound and genetic testing. When a woman waits this long it is because it took that long to receive the horrible news. The other reason women have abortions at later stages is because of severe maternal complications.

Our neighbor years back got the bad news. Her fetus was diagnosed with Tay Sachs. A week later it was found out that there overwhelming cardiac abnormalities. We had not seen her for a few days, but the next time we saw her she was no longer pregnant. I assumed she had an abortion. Would you have judged her and her husband that harshly?

I had several totally unexpected severe complications with pregnancy. Abortion was an option. I chose to stay pregnant despite the risk for several reasons. I had decent financial resources. I did not have a child at home that would be affected badly if I died or became even sicker. I had a great OBYN and great access to medical care because of comprehensive insurance. How many women who chose abortion have those kin of resources? Not many. It is likely that with as abrupt of an onset as my initial condition was...if it was not caught by my OBGYN with an eagle eye...I would likely be dead or on dialysis. I was off work nearly 6 months. As it stands, I still have renal and vascular issues related to that pregnancy. Women know when they first find out they are pregnant what kind of social/financial/medical resources they have . They can try for more with social services. But frankly...if I had been relegated to a busy understaffed under resourced county clinic...they most certainly would have missed or disregarded my symptoms.

Calling people soulless? Why not leave that judgement to a higher power.

The purpose of the abortion in the story that the nurse has been telling for decades is that the parents didn't want the child to live. It had abnormalities. And the nurse said the infant was treated with comfort and dignity.

I wouldn't know if death is an agonizing process. I'm alive still. Nobody knows if the baby in that story died in agony or not. All we know is that it died in the comfort of its parents arms. Is that a bad thing now?

And god only knows how many abortions their orange hero has paid for over the years.

He publicly admitted he wanted Marla Maples to abort Tiffany so Ivana didn't find out about his sleazy affair.

But these pearl clutchers on here pretend Trump is a swell guy who wants to save the babies. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic knowing how he has conned the easily conned.

So now it is normal procedure...? I thought these rooms were sinister infanticide depos....

I was using "recovery room" because this is the term for the place one is taken post-procedure.

Ironic, isn't it, if a recovery room is where a baby is taken to die?

It was a pre-existing kind of room used for a more general purpose. Its prior use makes it suited for this and why would they build a specific new room just for that purpose? Perhaps it would make the anti-choice right happy to call it a "baby killing room" or some such, but that doesn't mean it is ironic to use it for this even if it had another main prior use. Stupid semantic fights cheapen the subject, actually.

For someone who professes that "stupid semantic fights cheapen," you've made quite the effort to start a fight on the meaning of "recovery room." ;)

If I take issue with a stupid semantic fight, I am engaging in one, therefore neener-neener-neener?

Be better than that. It's as silly as saying that if A thinks intolerance is a problem, A is a hypocrite unless they tolerate intolerance. Nope + Whoosh.

If your problem is the fact of abortion, stick to that. Don't try to score little points about what the room fetuses die in is called (and I'm assuming the full factual statement; I haven't dug in because partial birth abortion really isn't a popular topic, even among pro-choice folk)

This is ground that has been plowed again and again.
The witness who testified at those 1999 hearing that the hospital created comfort rooms for aborted babies to die in was Jill Stanek, who gained initial prominence in 1999 when she testified that, while she worked at Christ Hospital, infants that survived induced labor abortions were abandoned to die in a utility room. These allegations led to a formal investigation by the Illinois Department of Public Health, which stated that the hospital violated no state laws.

What Ms Stanek just happened to not mention was explained by A Christ Hospital spokesman who admitted "that between 10 percent and 20 percent of fetuses with genetic defects that are aborted survive for short periods outside the womb."

What Ms Stanek also didn't say was that she was fired by Christ Hospital in 2001,for allegedly "taking photographs inside the hospital and misrepresenting the hospital on a television program."
(from Wikipedia)

The babies Ms Stanek saw aborted had life threatening genetic abnormalities. What no anti-abortion advocate has ever explained is why they think it is the right thing to do to bring into into the world a child whose life will be one of constant pain and/or a constant state of mental and emotional chaos. Sometimes abortion is the kindest choice the parents can make.

How does a baby wrapped in a blanket and laid down die within two hours?

These are premature births and their organs are not fully developed. They can die within minutes or several hours without medical attention.

How does a baby wrapped in a blanket and laid down die within two hours?

This is why people get exasperated with the anti-abortion advocates. They don't know anything about the issue and they haven't a clue that it isn't any of their business. They just emote on cue when the political leaders of the movement tell them to post.

These abortions are indeed taking place because of genetic abnormalities such as Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, etc. This particular practice (live birth abortion) is brutal and inhumane. There can be no denial of that regardless of your stance on abortion in general. But abortion, regardless of the method, for this reason is also in a category all its own. It’s eugenics. Hard to find people willing to openly admit to supporting eugenics rather than whitewashing what it is by framing it as a women’s rights issue.

In most cases these abortions are sorrowful. The parents of that genetically malformed fetus wanted a baby. You have no information on the state of the family or the severity of the fetal deformity. Yet you feel quite entitled to say these parents disrespect life, are cold and soulless and the mother a 'bitch'.

It seems clear that it is not the parents who are cold and soulless.
