The only course for Republicans is to do to the democrats exactly what they have been doing to Trump. Investigate all of the build up to the Trump investigation, make accusations of corruption and claim they have the proof. Keep it up for two years. Come out and say look at all the guilt, not enough for an indictment, will not hold up in court, but by god he's guilty even if the investigation did not prove it. Don't worry about innocent until proven guilty.

I think AOC was fresh and popular enough to beat him if eligible, otherwise no other Dem comes close to beating Trump. Unless something dramatic changes.

I think Sanders can beat him somewhat easily.
Harris, Buttigieg, and Warren MIGHT have a chance, but I'm not sure.
Biden and O'Rourke have a small chance of beating him.
Klobuchar, Yang, and he rest have no chance.

Trump will not be easy to beat and if anyone thinks so then they are not really paying attention or maybe just wishful thinking on their part. There is going to have to be a Biden vs. Sanders showdown first within the Democratic Party.

For one thing many Democrats across this country are not comfortable with the things the Progressive wing of their party are proposing. Whether it is gun control, infanticide, the Green Deal, Medicare for all, free this and that because they know it is bull**** because there isn't enough money to pay for all the free stuff. And they sure as heck don't support allowing incarcerated felons a right to vote. There are many Democrats also want the border secured and something done with Immigration reform. Many have been personally devastated over illegal drugs getting into this country from the Southern border killing and/or destroying their own family members. Yet the Progressive wing of their party seems to support open borders.

Not all Democrats believe in this identity politics crap the left is full of.

The last rally Trump held a couple of weeks ago was in Michigan. 37% + attending identified as registered Democrats.

The question is whether or not those people that were undecided in 2016 and didn't want HRC to win so they cast their vote for Trump will still feel that way in 2020 with a viable Democrat running against him? The rest of his base, the 35 or 37% that never waivers will be there but he's not gaining any new voters and he's not seeking them either, he feels confident that the static base will pull him over the finish line. I don't think that's possible. He's going to have to win over some new voters and in the state of turmoil that Washington is in right now with obstruction battles, to Congressional subpoenas and legal battles, this is going to be a challenge for him.

He has the robust economy working in his favor for most of his base, but there's others in that same base that haven't benefited at all from the booming economy, specifically people in rural areas of the country and farmers. The farmers are hurting because of his tariffs and that's going to affect his election. There are three swing states in which he won the election by a razors thin margin, just 107,000 votes, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. That's roughly the amount of people that can fit into Michigan's big football stadium in Ann Arbor.

The election is still a long way away and once the pack of candidates gets narrowed down, it will become more clear who will be a front runner and win the nomination. In the meantime, the Democrats are getting all the focus now because they're the opposing party and Trump is going to be left behind in the public attention since he's the incumbent. And in the meanwhile, all these battles will continue way after the election and will be dirty and relentless.

I don't know.Too many factors to consider. The democrats are running a crowded primary field just like the republicans did in 2016. So it might be easy for a joke candidate to win the primary and lose to Trump. In 2016 when the primary elections finally took place the democrats had Clinton, O'Malley and Sanders.Sanders was only allowed to run as a democrat during the primaries to make Clinton and O'Malley look sane by comparison.Much like when a 300 pound woman makes the 200 pound women she hangs around with look skinny by comparison. But this time with the democrats running crowded field might make it easy for Bernie Sanders type person to win and easy for Trump to beat that person.But if a lot of those guys drop out before the primary elections take place then a establishment type candidate like Biden will win and could beat Trump in the general. But then again everyone including myself who wasn't a Trump-tard thought Trump was going to get his ass handed to him in the general election against Clinton. Clinton was the establishment candidate and the media was running every negative Trump story they could to try to hand Clinton the election and it backfired resulting in Trump winning. So we know the media running anti-Trump stories most likely will not work. But it might had to do with the fact Clinton was more unlikeable than Trump. So running one sided anti-Trump stories might work if Trump is running again Biden or some other candidate whom the general public outside of Californian and New York views as moderate.
