My point is that the same God from the NT is supposed to be the same God from the OT. It's litterally the same 'guy', for a lack of a better term, and you're trying to compare that to a political party. If you had chosen a person that I look up to and used their sordid past as a comparison, that would land a bit more, but not quite. People, and even political parties can change---perfect beings do not reform.

Anyone who went through high-school knows that the Democrats used to be the 'white man's party'. Party's aren't really bound to an idealogy as much as some folks think they are, and opposing platforms trade planks in their platform all the time; just look at how the Democrats have recently dipped into McCarthyism and interventionalist rhetoric as of late. I haven't been loyal to the Democratic party for many years now, and have much disdaine for party leadership, making it a poor example to use. When you see someone with 'progressive' under their name, know that it's a person that's probably a part of the movement attempting to take over the party.

I agree. But in my sister's case, as with most women who make stupid choices, she was the one who suffered the worse consequences. She was the one left assaulted and abused with scars that will probably never go away. The convict got arrested and given a free ticket back to to prison where he thrives more than he ever could in society. His punishment was mediocre. Her's was worse. Women need to realize that irresponsible sex will hurt them more than it hurts a man. That doesn't absolve the man of responsibility. He will be spit on by society and probably legally forced to make amends in some way (child support). But she will be stuck raising a child alone for the next 18 years. It's not even close. Women have more at stake when it comes to sex so naturally they need to be more careful.

If you and I started a business and you invested $50 while I invested 18 years worth of life savings, of course I should be the one who cares more about the outcome. If it fails your accountant isn't going to blame you for it much, but mine will certainly blame me for investing so much more in a risky operation.

The thread you're referring to was a discussion around whether the law should be applied to give men the same level of control as women when deciding whether they want to become parents or not. I wouldn't support men who choose not to, but the point was that the law currently applies a double standard and that isn't exactly fair.

Part of that is supply and demand: if men pass up sex there's no garuantee they will get another chance. The other is that, according to biology, men have a much higher sex drive than women. This is undeniable.

What you don't understand is that the challenge of being a good man is acting sensibly in spite of all the characteristics I mentioned. Ultimately, it is these qualities that make a man good. If men didn't have a high sex drive and constantly crave sex so much, they wouldn't get married, be fathers, build houses, devote their life to supplying for their family, jump out of bed at 3am when an intruder threatens their family, or even fight wars against tyranny and oppression. There's a reason why men do those things so much better than women. It's because they're geared for it. Masculinity is like a gun: ultimately it serves a very good purpose as long as you know how to use it. Like anything, it is very easy to misuse and the consequences can be terrible.
