Why Trump Must Be Impeached Now, We Cannot Wait For The 2020 Election To Remove Him From Office

My point being that the Senate won't impeach him, so it's a waste of effort. With all of this buildup of pie-in-the-sky hope that Senate Republicans will "see the light", Democrats are going to be seriously disappointed and demoralized when Trump is still in office.

Never say never.

They said the same thing about Nixon and his crimes were not a drop in the bucket compared to trumps.

If the whole Senate chooses to hitch themselves to this criminal I will be shocked...

I don't. It's in the best interest of nations to have world leaders who they believe best serves the needs of the home nation. The US interfered in Cuba, Iran, Brexit, Israel, to name a few, Russia does the same. There's nothing new here.

Not exactly a very patriotic defense of American democracy, especially when Russia is a serious threat. Shrugging your shoulders is not a good response.

Nevertheless, your non-answer shows that you were wrong when you stated that Russia has been interfering in our elections for decades. Not to mention your empty rhetoric about China and Iran.

Any post that includes the phrase 'must impeach' with the understanding that it means not only the sending of a bill of impeachment to the Senate, but also the removal from office of the President, employs magical thinking.

Such posts, to be other than wishes, should include specifics as to how a sufficient number of Republican Senators will be convinced to vote, in open ballot, for the removal of President of the United States Donald Trump. Lacking that, the posts are best ignored.

You need to explain how this will help Trump, when around 50% of voters want Trump impeached and removed. That makes no sense.

That same 50% of the voters voted for Hillary. And Hillary is not President Hillary.

You're not going to change my mind. I'm not going to change yours. It's the 20% in the middle that wins or loses elections. After three years of nothing the middle is tired.

You do realize that (A) You are not going to remove President Trump. (B) 50% wanting removal and impeachment means 50% don't.

Best to concentrate on how you can defeat him.

How do you provide "specifics" on what is going on in the heads of Republican Senators right now? You don't know how the Republican Senators will vote, either. For you to already know for sure the outcome of an impeachment trial is nothing more than arrogance on your part.

I don't understand your point.

BTW, I said nothing about China.

Congratulations, you just pointed out the flaws in the Electoral College. The percentage that wants Trump removed is going to increase as more and more information comes out in public testimony during the impeachment proceedings.

Regardless, the status quo does not "help" Trump. You said impeachment helps Trump and you have not shown how.

Hi! Thanks for the response. I assume the 'you' is rhetorical. While I wouldn't put the word 'arrogance' in my verbal crossbow and fire it at the person behind the OP, you get my point.

For the record, I also find my teeth on edge when I run into blanket statements as, 'Republicans don't know what they're doing,' and 'Democrats are ruining the country.' The real world is complex and nuanced.

Regards.

What could Pence not do that Trump can?

Well, we know Pence would get Romney's vote for president. 'Nuff said.

This is an excellent article from Rolling Stone about the impeachable offenses that Trump has committed, and the historical context compared to other Presidents' crimes.

Waiting for the 2020 election to remove Trump from office would be an egregious mistake. Anyone who thinks this is a wise course of action vastly underestimates the threat to our democracy posed by Trump.

I particularly liked this quote about the idiotic "Deep State" hysteria:

Admit it. You are afraid of Trump winning the 2020 election and this is the only recourse.

Or "Trump must be weakened by making constant criminal allegations to be beaten in 2020".

That too. Of course, just as impeachment helped the Dems in the 1998 elections, it will help the GOP this time. Clinton committed 11 felonies and survived. Trump merely has foreign policy that the swamp disapproves of. Once the Dem case is exposed for the weak, partisan nonsense that it is, Trump will be helped.

Election interference, what dems are now doing with the impeachment process, is what the dems were accusing Russia of doing in 2016.

Act the part of a super successful business tycoon. ;)

He can't win. Trump will.

How he only won with Russian assistance, and by only 78,000 votes in three states.

He has not gained a single vote since he took office with his endless crimes and **** ups.

He has ****ed the farmers in the three states that put him over the EC edge.

He has no path to victory.

However the sooner he is removed the less damage he can cause...

There is no flaw in the electoral college. It performs as intended.

I did show how. After 3 years of a nothing witch hunt, people are tired.

Ok assuming he is impeached, that doesn't mean he'll be forced out of office, remember Bill Clinton?. Given that you had NO Republicans vote for it and two Democrats defected and voted not to impeach (which means you have bi-partisan support NOT to impeach using the standard the Democrats have used in the past ie if ONE person from the other party agrees with you you have bi-partisan support). Really unless the economy tanks, the odds of him being removed is 0.

Really all the Democrats did was give Trump a gift.

How can you be so confident a report against the swamp won't be lukewarm or cast aside?

You didn't show diddly squat. You have to explain how the 50% of people who support Trump's impeachment and removal is going to decrease. You have failed to do that. We're talking about the future, not the past.
