Why Saturday Night Live Is More Important Than Ever

I think it's a damn shame everything is becoming politicized.
But it's no surprise that SNL (hollywood) is overwhelmingly Liberal. Nothing like being virtue signaled about the average mans issues by people in massive million dollar homes in gated communities.

SNL has spoofed every President since Ford.
The only recent difference is that this PotUS complains about it.

How silly. It's very funny. I'm not sure how anyone could be offended so far... though I have to admit I missed the last one. There's no danger to Trump supporters. Comedians have been making fun of presidents forever... except for Obama. If a comic did too much, they were labeled racist.

I think one of the comedienne's I saw being interviewed over the weekend summed up SNL and Obama perfectly when they said he didn't give them much to work with for satire comedy. Trump and his team are a satire goldmine.

I wonder how the trump supporters react to this. Do they realise there is a danger or are they dismissive?

Mockery can be very effective in moving peoples opinions and at the moment SNL is getting stronger.

You bet it can.
The Spicer bits are a scream.
But ya know I can't help but think of what SNL is missing out on.
Imagine what they could do with, for example, Maxine Waters or Nancy Pelosi or Elizabeth Warren.
Guess I shouldn't be waiting for any of that, huh.

Bet not. Most stuff in Hollywood is liberal and or feminist. Has been that way for a long time now.

In you assessment:

Are business decisions in "Hollywood" market driven decisions?
Or are these decisions ideological?

Agreed!! Obama only had ears. Trump's got that hair comb-over going for him. And those tiny hands. ;)

Nobody watches Sat. Live any more.
I'm sure the ratings have upticked from nothing to a little more than nothing thanks to Trump, but nobody watches.View attachment 67213956View attachment 67213956

To be fair, the first part of that graphs was when there were only three major broadcasters.
People did not have as many choices.
There really wasn't a whole lot on TV in that time slot when SNL started.

I think when you're talking about Hollywood a large part of their decision making is directed towards pushing their own ideological views. I also think Hollywood does a good bit of work ignoring what the market wants to see in favor of their own opinions. This same reality however is now found in gaming(the rejection of which was a big reason for gamergate even happening) and even everyday businesses.

The skits about Spicer are hilarious.

SNL has always been at its best when it does political satire.

When did they move Hollywood to NYC?

I sort disagree. Trump is SO outrageous and says so many crazy things, he's hard to satire. In other words, the real thing is more entertaining than Alec Baldwin's painfully unfunny lame bit. The sight gag was funny for 5 seconds.

I think it is hilarious, when you have got a flub machine/autocratic fool who thinks he is all but royalty (and needs to be treated like that, speaking up against him or contradicting him is a offense/crime against the nation and his office as Grand Doofus).

All they have to do is ramp up his extreme things just a bit to get comedy gold.

Because your experts are ****ting you if you if you think america is in la la land at the moment.
Divisiveness and uncertainty is what you do have. A breeding ground for satire. And satire is a powerful influence.

Which way SNL's clear bias against the Rebellion pushes is yet to be known.

People seem to be taking SNL way too serious - Trump especially!

Meh.

It'll carry on for a few more months, then it'll get tiresome, then SNL's ratings will fall again and they will be forced to come up with something less monotonous.

SNL and it's ratings are always a rollercoaster ride...up and down....up and down. It's been that way since it's first season.

The fact that you worship the words of a comedy show is telling.

The fact that you are advertising your ignorance about what i do is telling.

Do you actually have a point to these really pointless observations?

No that is not the only difference. Another one is this is becoming popular. If it grows it will be dangerous to trump.
