Why Jones won: Moore missed Trump’s standard in every Alabama county

Hillary lost because of Hillary, and Moore lost because of Moore. It's really just that simple.

I don't see the breakdown of write in candidates. That is what probably swung the election since they would be republicans. WaPo seems to have missed that. LOL

Aside from leaving that out, it's not really about Trump. It's about Moore, abortion, and his background.

The Republicans were stuck with him. No one addresses the cold fact that you cannot stop him from running if he is otherwise qualified. Selective outrage amazes me.

Moore won his primary with the support of his base because they were the most motivated to vote. He lost in the general because he didn't appeal to enough of the rest of Republican voters. A larger turnout in the primary would have stopped him and kept the senate seat in GOP hands.

His chances of being re-elected in 2020 are slim.

True, much like Scott Brown in Massachusetts. However we can always hope that Bannon will come riding in with another horrible candidate.

Bannon is such an ass. He looks like a disheveled drunk and things he’s going to build a new conservative movement.

Yes, he is.. and I am sure he thinks that. Do you have a way to stop him from disrupting the republican primaries next year?

Jones won because Moore had credible allegations against him. Allegations of one of the most despicable crimes in our culture.

I think the Democrats have an opportunity here, they have to stand up and be the best regardless of party affiliation. They might just be able to grab hold of Alabama but they can't be the Socialist sjws they have been.

I will have to watch Alabama closely it could Mark a tide turning of sorts.
