The Senate, being in control of Republicans, has all Republican-chaired committees. Lindsey Graham is the chair of the judiciary committee, for example, and Richard Burr chairs the intelligence committee. So there seems to be no such obstacle here.
So, are you saying that there's no compelling reason or evidence? Because the narrative on the right is that it's just [I}obvious[/I] that Biden/Burisma are corrupt and should be investigated. If that's true, then there should be a compelling reason. If there's no compelling reason, on the other hand, then no one should believe the aforementioned narrative.
Well, this may be true. However, you are generalizing where you should be a lot more specific. "Using power for political purposes" names a certain category of actions some of which are bad/evil/corrupt and some of which are not. It's not that Trump used his power for political purposes--he does that every time he holds a re-election rally, and Presidents should be able to do that. Asking a foreign government to interfere by opening a bogus investigation into a political rival is, however, wrong and should not be allowed, for two reasons: first, no foreign power should interfere in any way in our elections, and second, because it's based, by definition, on a lie.
