Can anyone answer this question?

Any Congressman can initiate an investigation or ask the DOJ to investigate the Biden's or CrowdStrike. It was done by republicans against Clinton in 2014 over Benghazi which had already had an investigation in 2012.

Any member can begin an investigation, so if they want it so badly, why are we going through all of this? Oh wait, it's because Trump wanted the investigation to come from Ukraine in order to complete two wishes of Trump. Get Biden from rising in the polls and to put the blame on Ukraine for interfering in the 2016 election.

Yeah, Trump has the entirety of the U.S. law enforcement, military, and intelligence communities as his fingertips, but he's got to play President Columbo over in Ukraine?

I wonder if he has a special hat he wears when he's detectin'.

1. I don't think it's true that "Any Congressman can initiate an investigation". Any investigation would have to have the blessing of the Majority Leader. Furthermore, the Congressional investigation would have to be conducted by a committee...with the blessing of the majority leader of that committee...and the committee would have to have congressional jurisdiction. For example, the Senate Indian Affairs committee and its majority leader, Sen. Hoeven, would have no reason or justification to open an investigation to Joe Biden's actions concerning Ukraine during the previous administration.

2. I suppose any Congressman can ask the DOJ to investigate something or other, but the reality is unless that Congressman has a compelling reason or evidence, the DOJ is going to ignore them.

3. But let's look at why, eh? What we are talking about is government officials using their power for personal or political purposes. ALL Congressmen do this and a slew of executive branch officials have done this. (Hillary and her Clinton Foundation, for example) Heck, just look at the House Dems...making **** up about the President for no other reason than to generate negative media attention to affect the upcoming election. Also, think about how many Congressmen...from both chambers and both parties...are personally enriched by taking positions that are advantageous to people, corporations and organizations with deep pockets. None of those Congressmen want attention to such actions...even if the person being looked at hasn't been one of them...a Congressman...for over a decade.

4. And the DOJ isn't going to push this issue, either. They don't want any backlash in the form of congressional oversight if they were to get serious about corruption. Case in point: James Wolfe and his slap on the wrist.

They're all padnuhs. That's why. Are you saying he did nothing wrong?

Right there is where your argument went south. Bill Barr is in Trump's pocket and everyone knows it, it's no secret. If even Bill Barr, after traipsing all over the world looking for dirt on the Biden's, couldn't dig up any, even with the help of John Durham, then why would anyone logically expect Ukraine to be able to do that? Bill Barr didn't start an investigation because clearly there was no legal grounds to begin one.

And do respond to whether or not a US Senator can initiate an investigation, that's a yes answer as illustrated by Trey Gowdy's witch hunt. If Lindsey Graham needed Mitch's approval do you really think Mitch would say 'no, don't do that' ?

I'm saying there's not one iota of evidence of any illegalities committed by Hunter Biden, Joe Biden or CrowdStrike. Absolutely nothing. If there were, there would have been an investigation underway in 2017 or 2018 when we were giving aid to Ukraine, not in 2019 when Biden became Trump's opponent in the next election.

Right! Hunter was ****ing his sister-in-law, snorting smack on skid row, then was recruited by a foreign company to come to work for them, for 80 g's a month. Yeah, nothing fishy about that; happens all the time...lol.

1. I speak of "compelling reason or evidence" and you respond with unsupported nonsense..."Bill Barr is in Trump's pocket"...and irrelevant nonsense about Durham and his investigation.

2. What "Trey Gowdy's witch hunt"?

3. Regarding Graham, he won't investigate anything...regardless his rhetoric to the media. He won't open that can of worms for the reasons I already expressed in my previous post. And you can be sure that McConnell agrees with not opening that can.

I could care less if Hunter Biden was running drugs through Mexico every weekend. This has nothing at all to do with his position on the board of Burisma.

Now if you want to talk about nepotism we can discuss the high positions and high level jobs handed over to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump in this administration. They made over $82 million last year in 'outside' income and a combined $135 million dollars last year. Ivanka's stake in her family’s Washington DC hotel down the street from the Oval Office generated $3.95 million alone.

What were their qualifications other than being related to Trump? At least Hunter Biden has a damned law degree. Soy-boy has nothing that qualifies him to be a national security advisor to his father-in-law on matters of foreign policy that affects national security.

That's not the point. The point is: what did Hunter's position on the board of Burisma have to do with Joe being VP? Question #1: How much of that 80 grand went from Hunter's hands to Joe's hands?

What if his position with Burisma had everything to do with Joe Biden being the VP? So what? That's not illegal and as a matter of fact, if it were, then Gordon Sondland wouldn't be Ambassador to the EU merely because he gave Trump a million bucks for his campaign.

An investigation requires adequate predicate (source: AG Barr).

It's near impossible to establish adequate predicate based on Russian propaganda even after it's repeated by the President.

Name a crime. Otherwise you're just repeating right-wing innuendo.

"Looks bad" isn't a crime.

I wonder if when it looks like he's finally leaving the room, he pauses, turns around, and says "just one more thing..." before he really nails the bad guy.

Dude, that's bribery...lol

So who bribed who?

Joe shook down Hunter while Hunter shook down his employers?

Or did Hunter call his Dad for a favor as a quid-pro-quo for Burisma giving his unemployable son a job?

Burisma and/or the Ukrainian government might have bribed Joe Biden.

Oh yes. Fat chance...

A House with a democrat majority who is trying to railroad a republican president will really give that consideration...

Joe Biden is far more guilty of quid pro quo than president Trump. He even admitted, and there is video, where he demanded, and got the investigator fired, investigating his son's company.

ONE MORE TIME!!! FOR YOU!!
Do you SERIOUSLY believe that a former Vice President would appear on stage, being filmed, in front of a live audience to admit he committed a crime?!! TRY READING!

Biden and Obama weren't blackmailing the Ukraine. They weren't trying to 'get their way'. Joe Biden was the spearhead for the many nations of the EU and for the IMF that wanted Ukraine's prosecutor Viktor Shulkin removed because he wasn't prosecuting Burisma as he was supposed to be doing. Viktor Shulkin was corrupt as many in Ukraine were and still are. As soon as Shulkin was removed, the Burisma investigation commenced. This is why the company founder, Zlochevsky fled the country once Shulkin was removed and because Ukraine's new prosecutor general opened multiple investigations into Zlochesky and his businesses, including suspicion of tax evasion and money laundering.

There were a total of 15 investigations on Burisma's owner Zlochevsky!! In October 2019, Prosecutor General Ruslan Riaboshapka announced that all 15 investigation cases will be reviewed. Without a doubt, this 'review' is at the urging of Trump. So if Ukraine is already doing an investigation, why did Trump pressure Zelensky to do one specifically on the Bidens?

A President released a summary of his.

The reason is simple: They know such an investigation would produce nothing. Just like Trump didn't really want an investigation, he just wanted Zelezny to say he was investigating. It was all for show.

The real question is "Why no Dimocrap has initiated an investigation or asked the DOJ to investigate the Biden's or CrowdStrike." That's a real investigation we all want to know about, as evidenced by this OP.

Then push your Republican lawmakers to start one since you obviously feel there is evidence there. See how far it goes.
